An exciting new job opportunity has arisen for a skilled Maintenance Worker to work in a fantastic care home based in the Stockton-on-Tees, Cleveland area.
You will be working for one of UK's leading health care providers
This is an excellent care home which offers high-quality residential care, specialist dementia care, and short-term respite care in a purpose-built setting
As the Maintenance Worker your key duties include:
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the home, including minor repairs, decorating and general upkeep
Help develop and follow a planned preventative maintenance schedule in line with the Property Handbook
Maintain gardens, lawns, paths and outdoor areas, ensuring they are safe, tidy and well-presented
Monitor and maintain heating, water systems, lighting and other mechanical and electrical equipment, keeping accurate records
Test fire alarms, carry out fire safety checks and support compliance with health & safety requirements
Liaise with the Home Manager and external contractors to arrange servicing, repairs and inspections
Assist with risk assessments and ensure hazards are identified and addressed promptly
Support the safe movement of furniture and equipment, following manual handling guidance
Attend training, supervision, appraisals and staff meetings as required
The following skills and experience would be preferred and beneficial for the role:
Previous relevant maintenance experience (essential)
Practical skills in general maintenance and/or gardening
A recognised trade qualification (e.g.
City & Guilds in plumbing, joinery, electrical or decorating) - desirable
Good communication and listening skills
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
A flexible approach to work, including occasional travel or out-of-hours attendance when required
Sensitivity to the needs of older people and a commitment to quality service
The successful Maintenance Worker will receive an excellent salary of £14.09 per hour and the annual salary is £29,307.20 per annum.
This exciting position is a permanent full time role working 40 hours a week.

Engineering parts and consumables stores control and stock allocation
The day-to-day management of the Engineering Stores
Conduct daily and end-of-month checks of fuel and chemical stock levels and responsible for safe storage in line with COSHH requirements
Daily check of PPE and other production-based consumables
Manage stock levels using CMMS (computerized maintenance management system).
Vet and research new and existing suppliers, constantly looking to gain better quality parts and/or prices and/or improved supply
Carry out period stock checks of all spares (cycle counts)
Take any remedial action required due to stock levels in a timely manner
Supply goods/parts to all areas of the factory as required
Collect/transport goods to/from site
Assist engineering teams in creating kits for planned maintenance tasks
Liaise between management and suppliers, to meet delivery deadlines and ensure best price is achieved
Control of stores spending against budgets
Assist with the planning and organising parts around maintenance shutdown periods.

Looking to start a career in engineering?
We're looking for a practical, hands-on individual who wants to develop a long-term career within the aerospace engineering industry.
This is a trainee-level opportunity, so you don't need to already be an experienced Electroplater.
It could be a great next step if you have some experience working with hand tools, mechanical components or within a workshop/engineering environment and are keen to learn a skilled engineering trade.
You may currently be working as a Mechanic, Workshop Operative, Engineering Assistant, Production Operative, Technician or similar hands-on role and be looking for an opportunity with structured training and progression.
Working within a specialist aerospace engineering environment, you'll receive full training in electroplating and surface treatment processes used on aircraft components.
What you'll be doing
Assisting experienced Electroplaters with day-to-day engineering and plating activities
Learning how to prepare, clean, mask and treat aerospace components
Supporting electroplating processes including cleaning, plating and rinsing
Learning specialist processes including grit blasting, component stripping and surface preparation
Handling components using appropriate slings, jigs and manual handling techniques
Learning to safely operate specialist equipment, including overhead cranes
Following engineering drawings, process instructions and overhaul manuals
Working to strict health, safety, environmental and quality procedures
Building your practical experience and technical knowledge through structured on-the-job training
What we're looking for
We're particularly interested in people who are practical, mechanically minded and keen to build a career in engineering.
You could be a good fit if you have:
Some previous exposure to an engineering, mechanical, workshop or production environment
Confidence using hand tools or working practically with mechanical components
A genuine willingness to learn a skilled engineering trade
Good attention to detail and the ability to follow processes and instructions
A strong approach to health and safety
Good communication and teamwork skills
GCSE-level education or equivalent
Previous aerospace or aviation experience would be advantageous but not essential.

£25,000 - £28,000 basic salary
£4,500 annual shift allowance

4 on, 4 off shift pattern
