Pre-weigh Personnel (Job Description)
Scope:
Pre-Weight personnel are responsible for having product formulas properly weighed for production mixing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Examine materials, ingredients, or products visually or with hands, in order to ensure conformance to established standards • Move products, materials, or equipment between work areas. • Communicating with Supervisors or Peers • Package products for storage or shipment. • Select and measure or weigh ingredients, using English or metric measures and balance scales. • Follow formulas to produce food products to meet customers specified. • Operate or tend machines to mix or blend any of a wide variety of food products. • Read work orders to determine production specifications and information • Dump or pour specified amounts of materials into machinery and equipment. • Record operational and production data on specified forms • Maintain a clean work area • Frequently Walk; Reach with hands and arms; the employee is regularly stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; Talk, hear. • Perform all work in accordance with GMP's, housekeeping, good safety practices, and environmental regulations. • Adheres to all safety and quality procedures/regulations
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
• Must possess good reading, writing and math skills. • Must always be safety conscious • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. • Capable of working independently • Ability to follow directions and procedures accurately
Education and Experience:
• Education: High school diploma.

Previous experience working as an Optical Assistant / Optical Advisor / Dispensing Assistant in an Opticians is highly desirable

Zest Optical are currently working alongside a high end independent practice in Carmarthen to recruit a full time Optical Assistant.
(To Train to become a DO)
This is a small group of independent Opticians which is very well established and has an excellent reputation in the area.
Optical Assistant - Role
Family run independent Opticians which has been established for around 50 years
Single testing room practices
Specialises in high end eyewear and customer service
Focus on quality rather than quantity
Travels to international trade shows to handpick exclusive eyewear - Anne & Valentin, Theo, Face a Face
Main lens supplier is Rodenstock but you have the freedom to work with most high quality suppliers
Advanced dispensing equipment - DNEye scanner
Working between two practices which are close by, mainly Carmarthen
Working 4.5 days a week - 9am to 5.30pm midweek and 9am to 12.30pm on a Sat)
One full weekend off a month
Hourly rate of £11.50/hr
Funding and support towards the Dispensing Optician course
Free or very cheap parking available close by

Optical Assistant - Requirements
1+ Years experience of working as an Optical Assistant
Interest is training to become a Dispensing Optician
A passion for offering excellent service and amazing products
Interest in frame brands and styling
