Pay
$17 / hour.
Requirements
Major: Chemical Engineering Junior, or Senior. General lab skills (formulating, mixing, ability to research test methods and raw materials). General understanding of adhesive and sealants. Good time management. Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint, ability to manage multiple priorities. Data analysis.

Validate and optimize for the most feasible formula in terms of performances and cost, 3 weeks. Review, prepare for final presentation, 1 week

Requirements
Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemistry, materials science, polymer science, or related discipline from an accredited institution with a total GPA of 3.0 or higher. Completed a minimum of 4 semesters by the start of the internship. Available to work the entirety of the 12-week summer internship program in 2025. 6-12 months of practical laboratory experience in polymers, chemical/polymer processing, advanced analytical and materials characterization. Previous relevant intern experience or co-op with company or university. Use of designed experiments and statistical analysis of experimental results. Demonstrated scientific and technical acumen, with ability to make connections between science/technology and real-world concerns. Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to deal with the ambiguity as it relates to technical problems and experimentation. Demonstrated scientific excellence as evidenced by publications and presentations. Under the supervision of the Senior R&D Scientist, the Research Assistant will test formulations for new product development, technology innovation, cost saving or product performance enhancement.
This is a temporary position.
Responsibilities
Work under supervision on projects that require research, formulation, analytical and mechanical testing development, and evaluation for potential new applications Enter new raw materials and formulation data into the laboratory database systems. Perform analytical and mechanical property tests and summarize data per industry standards and internally developed test methods. Follow all laboratory safety and housekeeping requirements. Use power cutting equipment, such as table saws, radial arm saws, band saws, and similar equipment to make assemblies to test formulated products Assist with maintaining and calibrating laboratory instruments and equipment. Requirements:
Specialty training beyond high school diploma in a science related field and preferably a B.S.
in Science with course completion in organic chemistry and chemistry lab; BS degree in science is a plus. Previous hands-on bench experience with chemistry Preferably some familiarity with various analytical techniques: wet chemistry, titrations, microscopy, rheology, thermal analysis, tensile testing, etc. Ability to work with many types of chemistry both hazardous and non-hazardous. Ability to operate lab scale mixing equipment as well as lab scale analytical and mechanical property test apparatus A passion for chemistry, science, problem solving, and creativity. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. A strong self-motivated work ethic and a keen interest in learning from others.

Demonstrate ability to independently assemble information for and generate highly effective written reports and oral presentations to communicate within R&D and with cross-functional teams.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related field with 5 years' experience of relevant experience A passion for chemistry, science, problem solving, and creativity. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and presentation skills. A breadth of technical knowledge and a keen interest in learning from others. Hands-on bench experience with various chemistries (latex, moisture curing, reactive, etc.) in sealants, adhesives, coatings, repair or related field. Bench chemistry experience and familiarity with various analytical techniques: wet chemistry, titrations, microscopy, rheology, thermal analysis, tensile testing, etc. Experience operating lab scale mixing equipment as well as lab scale analytical and testing apparatus.

The summer intern would work under mentorship of a senior scientist / Supervisor to perform collaborative research for development adhesives or repair products with unique and differentiated properties.
The intern will work on Project is focused on moisture cure chemistry sealants. Will be evaluating a few promising raw materials from past studies for other properties.
Requirements
Major: Organic Chemistry Sophomore, Junior, or Senior. General lab skills (weighing materials on benchtop scale, transferring liquids/solids from one container to another, adherence to lab safety rules). Good time management. Data analysis.
