Position Summary
The Director of Customer Service, Product Support & Technical Service leads the strategy, performance, and continuous improvement of all customer-facing support functions for Rust-Oleum.
This role oversees customer service operations, product support, and technical service teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences across professional contractors, retail partners, distributors, and consumers.
The Director ensures customers receive accurate product guidance, technical troubleshooting, and responsive service across multiple channels, while also translating customer insights into actionable improvements for product development, quality, marketing, and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service Leadership
Develop and execute the overall customer service strategy aligned with company growth and brand reputation goals.
Lead and manage multi-channel support operations including phone, email, chat, digital platforms, and retail support.
Establish service standards, KPIs, and operational processes that ensure fast, accurate, and customer-centric support.
Drive initiatives that improve Customer Satisfaction (CSAT), Net Promoter Score (NPS), and first-contact resolution rates.Product Support & Technical Services
Oversee product support teams that assist customers with application guidance, product compatibility, troubleshooting, and best practices.
Manage technical experts who support complex inquiries from contractors, retailers, distributors, and industrial customers.
Ensure accurate technical documentation, FAQs, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base content.
Partner with R&D and Product Management to communicate field insights, product performance feedback, and improvement opportunities.Customer Experience & Process Improvement
Analyze customer interaction data to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities to improve products, packaging, instructions, and support materials.
Implement technologies such as CRM platforms, knowledge management systems, and AI-assisted service tools.
Standardize workflows across customer service and technical service teams to improve efficiency and scalability.Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing to resolve customer issues and improve product experience.
Support major retail partners and distributors by ensuring strong technical support and service responsiveness.
Represent the voice of the customer in internal strategic discussions.Team Leadership & Development
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of customer service managers, technical specialists, and support staff.
Establish training programs that ensure strong product knowledge and consistent service delivery.
Foster a culture focused on customer advocacy, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.Performance & Reporting
Develop service metrics dashboards and report performance to executive leadership.
Manage department budgets, staffing plans, and operational resources.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Chemistry, Operations Management, or related field required
MBA or advanced degree preferredExperience

Salary Target Range: $130,000 - $175,000, Bonus Eligible

As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting precision components and sub-assemblies, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and strict quality standards.
You will play a key role in supplier quality management, non-conformance investigation, and driving a “right first time” culture across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect components and sub-assemblies against engineering drawings and specifications
- Use a range of metrology equipment including CMM and Faro Arm systems
- Raise and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and ensure timely resolution
- Conduct root cause analysis and support corrective action activities
- Communicate quality issues effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Support and carry out Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR) and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR)
- Apply appropriate AQL inspection plans based on supplier performance and product criticality

The Role

- Support and contribute to the NPI process and oversee manufacturing activities

- Analyse production data and recommend improvements

- Support documentation control and production readiness reviews
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in a production, manufacturing, or engineering environment
- Experience with CAD software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on, practical approach
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Open-minded, proactive, and keen to improve processes
- Hands-on approach with the ability to support physical assembly work when required
- Degree or HNC in Engineering (or equivalent experience)

As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for setting, operating, and running CNC milling machines to produce high-precision components to engineering drawings and exacting quality standards.
You will work on both proven and unproven programmes, taking ownership of machining processes from setup through to first-off inspection and full production runs.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate CNC milling machines (Mazak and Doosan)
- Run proven and unproven programmes, making adjustments to work and tool coordinates as required
- Set tools and produce accurate first-off components to drawing and quality standards
- Switch between machines as required to support production demands
- Carry out basic preventative maintenance and ensure machines are operating efficiently
- Identify and correct programming or machining errors where necessary
- Support continuous improvement and contribute to better manufacturing processes
- Ensure on-time delivery targets are consistently met without compromising quality
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience operating CNC milling machines in a precision engineering environment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Experience working with ISO and conversational programming
- Strong understanding of tooling, materials, and machining behaviour
- Ability to anticipate and resolve machining issues proactively
- Quality-focused with a strong understanding of production deadlines
- Ideally experience machining complex, high-precision components or fabrications
- Due to the location, you must be able to drive
- Willingness to travel to client sites both nationally and internationally when required
