GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Filler/Packager is responsible to fill product using at least one of the different types of packaging machines.
The operator will organize the area, collect materials such as pails, cans, cartridges or films, and set up the filling and packaging equipment.
Responsibilities include gathering required labels and casing materials.
Production Order card must be read and followed exactly as to correct packaging including labeling of cans and cases, etc.
Operator is responsible to report correct counts of production for the shift and report downtime information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Neatly assemble and place all required materials from the fill card to be used in their appropriate location throughout the shift. Read and follow filling procedures to package material into cartridges, chubs, or one, two and five-gallon units. Follow and meet the established production schedules. Properly use the filling equipment and maintain cleanliness of the work area following written standard operating procedures. Assist in the waste segregation and recycling program. Communicate written and verbal information between the Foreman and Production Manager. Use appropriate safety equipment and follow established safety regulations. Responsibilities include gathering required labels and casing materials.
Production Order card must be read and followed exactly as to correct packaging including labeling of cans and cases, etc.
Operator is responsible to report correct counts of production for the shift and report downtime information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Neatly assemble and place all required materials from the fill card to be used in their appropriate location throughout the shift. Read and follow filling procedures to package material into cartridges, chubs, or one, two and five-gallon units. Follow and meet the established production schedules. Properly use the filling equipment and maintain cleanliness of the work area following written standard operating procedures. Assist in the waste segregation and recycling program. Communicate written and verbal information between the Foreman and Production Manager. Use appropriate safety equipment and follow established safety regulations. Track progress throughout assigned shift by completing overall equipment effectiveness documents.
EDUCATION:
No high school diploma required.
EXPERIENCE:
No prior experience or training.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Forklift certification preferred, or willing to obtain.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The Machine Operator starts, troubleshoots, and operates manufacturing equipment safely.
There are three Machine Operator levels (I, II, & III).
The level will be determined by experience, ability to assume various roles on the plant floor, and demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and problem-solve machine issues resulting in efficient cycles and minimal downtime.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The 3rd Shift Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of process and facility-related equipment.
Equipment inspection includes preventative maintenance (PM) and associated documentation.

Comply with all safety policies (especially Cardinal Rules - e.g.
Hot Work, LOTO, and line breaking).
Partner with Maintenance Supervisor and Facilities Manager to support LEAN initiatives to eliminate unplanned production interruptions due to process equipment failure.
Implement the needed preventative measures, including optimization of PM program.
Ensure reliable operation of facility support processes and utilities (i.e.
HVAC, Air Compressors, Tow motors, Hot Oil Heaters, and chiller systems).
Diagnose/Troubleshoot, repair/replace and maintain facility electrical systems (e.g.
programmable logic controllers, human machine interfaces, and lighting) and components (e.g.
sensors, switches, valves, PLCs and control wiring), and mechanical systems (e.g.
product vessels/reactors, pumps) and components.
Investigate equipment/process failures and difficulties to diagnose and troubleshoot faulty operation.
Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in arranging and coordinating contractor, safety permits, and tasks to support facility and process maintenance/repairs.
Serve, as needed, on process hazard analysis (PHA) teams/sessions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
One-year certificate from college or technical school.
Maintenance Mechanic Certificate or equivalent as deemed by the company.
Two to four years related experience and/or training.
Industrial Technology program graduate preferred.
Military mechanical experience is a plus.
Experience in chemical/coating processing & production preferred.
Experience in LEAN manufacturing.
Experience in dispensing operations.
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Journeyman cards in various disciplines are preferred.
Ability to work overtime as needed.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, effective Team Player, self-motivated, quick learner.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English.
Scope of experience: Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Welding.

Minimum Requirements:

Physical Requirements:
Primarily office-based with extended computer use (up to 8 hours/day).
Students must have housing arrangements in or near St.
Louis for the summer, as housing allowance is not provided. No unusual lifting, environmental, or exertion requirements.
Essential Functions:
Build foundational knowledge of the paint and coatings industry through hands-on experience. Drive accuracy by updating and maintaining critical purchasing data. Communicate directly with suppliers to gather essential business information. Analyze and problem-solve invoice discrepancies and inventory challenges. Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to shape forecasts. Support sourcing initiatives that contribute to cost savings and operational efficiency. Assist in active product development projects and strategic purchasing efforts. Champion safety and quality by adhering to company standards and protocols.
