Responsibilities:
The summer intern would work under mentorship of a senior scientist to perform collaborative research and development of sealants with unique and differentiated properties.
This R&D work will include: Formulating raw materials into a functional product Analytical testing to understand raw materials, as well as formulated product properties Applications testing of formulated products for end-use performance prediction
Pay
$17 / hour.
Requirements
Major: Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Polymer Engineering College classification (freshman, sophomore, junior or senior): Junior, or Senior Skills required to perform tasks: Preferred but not required: general lab skills (weighing materials on benchtop scale, transferring liquids/solids from one container to another, adherence to lab safety rules), some organic chemistry knowledge, adept with hands-on work, home cooking/baking experience is a plus! Conduct and Manage Incident Analysis Program Lead, assist and maintain incident reporting procedures to DAP Corporate and RPM.
Evaluate trends in incidents.
Recommend corrective actions to minimize/eliminate undesirable trends.
Incorporate accident prevention programs into safety directive.
Maintain Environmental reporting requirements Keep accurate records on plant emission calculations to maintain monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting submission requirements.
Assure plants stay in compliance with required external and internal reporting requirements.
Working knowledge of TRI, Tier II, SPCC and SWPPP is requested.
Requirements:
EHS Degree preferred. Bachelor's degree in environmental health & safety or similar field. 3+ years of relevant experience.
Computer software familiarity. Working knowledge of state and federal regulations. Experience in research skills. Certified Safety Professional preferred Must be Bilingual (English/ Spanish)

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Technical Communications Specialist provides technical support for assistance to distributors, applicators, contractors, chemists, engineers, sales, technical service department subordinates, and customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide front line phone coverage for Technical Services.
Leverage SAP systems to complete notifications as product specialist.
Take turns with the general department mailbox and answer e-mails received and respond or forward to appropriate product specialist.
Work cooperatively with peers to ensure adequate, consistent phone coverage throughout the day with increased sensitivity for needs from 8:00-8:30, 5:00-5:30 and during staggered lunch hours.
Occasional flexibility required to accommodate vacations and excused absences.
Handle application questions from the sales force where appropriate.
Support the proper application of Commercial Sealants and Waterproofing products, meeting company and industry guidelines, utilizing written and verbal communications.
Write Technical Bulletins as needed.

Target is 24-hour turn- around time, not to exceed 48 hours.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Bachelor's degree in construction, Engineering, Science, or similar field.
