Looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Development Engineer to lead the mechanical design and development of sensor-based products.
You will be responsible for delivering cost-effective, manufacturable designs that meet both customer and internal specifications.
This role involves full product lifecycle management — from initial concept and prototyping through to documentation, supplier engagement, and supporting production teams.
Key responsibilities for the Mechanical Development Engineer based in Northants:
Lead mechanical design and product development activities, collaborating closely with electronics engineers.
Produce and test prototypes as required.
Create and manage technical documentation including BOMs, drawings, datasheets, FMEAs, technical files, and compliance documents.
Manage projects to agreed timescales, budgets, and specifications.
Maintain technical ownership of designs throughout the lifecycle, supporting production and customer delivery.
Apply design-for-manufacture and cost-control principles without compromising on quality.
Liaise with external suppliers and identify new supply partners when necessary.
Support the design or sourcing of bespoke tooling for assembly processes.
Produce clear assembly instructions for production teams.
Set up parts within ERP systems.
Ensure compliance with ISO requirements and internal processes.
Key skills required for the Mechanical Development Engineer based in Northants:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Extensive experience in a mechanical design or engineering development environment.
Proven track record of delivering products from concept through to market launch.
Experience in prototyping, testing, and validation.
Proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
Knowledge of injection moulding, CNC machining, and sheet metal design.
Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Office/365/Teams, ERP systems).
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Highly self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
Strong attention to detail with a “right first time” approach.
Ability to work at pace and take initiative when faced with design challenges.

Our small and flexible design team now needs another member, preferably an experienced designer used to managing their own projects in their entirety, able to take on client management responsibilities once embedded in the team, and helping those clients right through the design and construction process.Are you hungry to learn more about designing amazing high-end projects and learning from our expert and award-winning design team?Do you feel excited by the idea of working in a collaborative team with designers with decades of experience, top architects and broader project teams on our broad range of largely domestic projects?Do you feel motivated by the idea of working in small teams directly with the clients- all our designers are client-facing and get to be involved in the detail of the projects not just production from afar!
If this sounds like you, we might have your perfect next role!What we need…1) Passion and creativityYou will be using your talent and creativity to overcome real world problems and situations, assisting with the development of budgets and managing these with clients to deliver real gardens not just lovely designs.
Every step of the process requires meticulous work, a deep understanding of the sites, openness to challenge, and a willingness to learn.2) Technical skillA formal Garden Design or Landscape Architecture qualification is ideal but not essential, and real-world experience is valued as highly.
Our designs are all modelled using Sketchup and Autocad, so a really good level of practical experience of Sketchup and a willingness to learn Autocad is required.
A good knowledge and interest in plants and the ability to put together planting plans is also very highly valued.3) Personal AttributesFluent and comfortable written and spoken English are essential, as is reliability, an ability to work in a team, and manage your time to tight deadlines.
An ability to take on new client prospect meetings requires an engaging personality and ability to listen and interpret client needs.4) LocationWe need to be able to collaborate between ourselves and to visit local sites and clients.
You will need to be able to work daily from our lovely, converted barn in Penn, near Beaconsfield.
This is essentially a full time, office-based, role, and a full driving licence and own transport is essential.What’s in it for you?…

They are currently looking for a Lead Fullstack Developer to help drive the design and delivery of this platform while leading a small engineering team.
Skills and Requirements:
Strong experience with .NET Core / C# and React for full stack development.
Experience with ASP.NET Core, WebAPI, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Experience building microservices architectures.
Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

Oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
Perform hands-on development, delivering high-quality production code.
Conduct code reviews and enforce best development practices within the team.
Work closely with project managers and stakeholders to define scope, priorities, and timelines.
Ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, security, and compliance requirements.
Continuously identify opportunities to improve development processes, tools, and architecture.
