Medical Devices - Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Cambridge
Due to successful growth plans, a Medical Devices organization based in Cambridge is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the development and improvement of life-saving Medical Devices.
Collaborating closely with other industry experts, such as electronics design engineers, software engineers, physicists, and other Medical Devices specialists, you will tackle some of the most complex challenges in the development of new Medical Technologies.
Ideally, you will have a background in developing new Medical Devices throughout the entire design life cycle, adhering to ISO 13485 standards.
If you have not worked on Medical Devices, we will consider candidates from other highly regulated industries such as life sciences, robotics, product development, etc.
For the 3D CAD elements of your role, you will primarily use SolidWorks.
Familiarity with this tool would be advantageous, but we are open to considering other 3D CAD tools if you have a proven track record of quickly acquiring new skills.
When discussing complex problems, it would be beneficial if the Medical Devices you have worked on have involved fluidics, mechanism design, thermal issues, FEA, or other intricate applications.
We do not expect you to have experience in all of these areas; they are just a few examples of the challenges you may encounter.

Develop and administer a viable and visual Preventative Maintenance Program that reduces downtime and improves overall reliability of production and production supporting machinery.
Responsible for identifying capital requirements for the facility's annual capital plan and budget. Direct, review, and approve product design and changes consistent with MOC procedures.
Recruit departmental employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
Analyze annual site utility expenditure and develop plan to optimize plant efficiency to reduce costs (ISO 14001).
Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
Integrate the plant PHA initiative with the appropriate capital projects. Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operations and work with the maintenance crew to implement the needed preventative measures. Interface with leadership, operators, and maintenance to develop needed TPM programs. Support SPC, DOE's, and other Quality initiatives. Lead Engineer for the production processes. Develop facility infrastructure upgrade plan.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

Provide technical and engineering support for the Sales and New Business Development (NBD) teams. Assist the Engineering Manager in market development, product compliance, and sales training initiatives. Create and manage project lists and profiles for publication in trade publications, the company website, and other platforms. Identify and develop opportunities for new applications of Euclid fiber products, such as DOT applications, shotcrete, and wall systems. Prepare certifications and literature to ensure project compliance. Review technical documents, literature, and packaging for accuracy. Coordinate product testing programs in collaboration with internal and external laboratories. Assist in developing training programs for customers, internal teams, and trade organizations. Author technical publications and articles relevant to the field. Participate in planning and executing national and regional sales meetings. Monitor industry statistics and trends to inform strategic decisions. Provide monthly updates and actively participate in strategic and business-related meetings.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Professional Engineer (PE) designation preferred (or actively pursuing). A minimum of 2 years of experience in the cement and concrete field is preferred.
Skills and Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Proficient in responding to inquiries from customers and regulatory agencies. Skilled in writing articles, speeches, and other publications that adhere to prescribed formats. Capable of presenting information effectively to top management and public groups. Proficient in PC applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and email systems. Strong aptitude for mathematical concepts, including probability, statistical inference, and geometry. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions. Strong analytical skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Proficient in interpreting complex technical instructions and managing various abstract and concrete variables.
Travel:
Approximately 10-15% of work time will involve travel.
