CLIENT ACCOUNTANT STOCKPORT (HYBRID) UP TO £55,000 + GREAT BENEFITS
THE OPPORTUNITY Get Recruited is partnering with a leading, progressive accountancy practice that is looking to appoint an experienced Client Accountant to its team. This is a broad position combining accounts preparation, tax compliance, management accounts, business advisory and team management.
You will take ownership of a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses, acting as a key point of contact and ensuring work is delivered accurately and within agreed deadlines. The role is ideal for an experienced practice accountant who enjoys building close client relationships, developing junior colleagues and providing advice beyond traditional year-end compliance.
THE CLIENT ACCOUNTANT ROLE
Manage a varied portfolio of limited companies, LLPs, partnerships and sole traders.
Prepare and review year-end accounts, corporation tax computations, personal tax returns and Capital Gains Tax calculations.
Oversee bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and management accounting services.
Produce management information, budgets, cash-flow forecasts and performance analysis.
Provide practical advice on tax planning, profitability, financial controls and process improvement.
Review work completed by junior colleagues and ensure assignments meet agreed deadlines and quality standards.
Act as a key client contact, attending meetings and building strong working relationships.
Manage portfolio workflow, billing, work in progress and client onboarding.
Support business plans, funding applications, financial projections and business valuations.
Promote cloud accounting solutions and identify opportunities to provide additional services.
THE PERSON
A minimum of five years' experience working within a UK accountancy practice.
Ideally ACA or ACCA qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience.
Strong experience preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and tax returns.
Experience managing a portfolio of owner-managed businesses.
Good knowledge of corporation tax, personal tax, VAT and capital allowances.
Previous exposure to management accounts, cash-flow forecasting and business advisory work.
Experience supervising, reviewing and developing junior colleagues.
Confident using Xero, TaxCalc and other cloud-based accounting platforms.

CA / ACA / ACCA or equivalent qualification
Educated at University level (Degree)
Track record of expertise within fund accounting and/or fund administration.
Experience with limited partnerships and the reporting requirements, including capital account statements, financial statements, and performance metrics (IRR, TVPI, MOIC, DPI).
Proficient in portfolio monitoring platforms such as or similar to iLevel, eFront and Geneva.
Highly experienced in Microsoft Excel.
Highly organised with an attention to detail.
Confident individual.
Ability to read, work with, analyse, and communicate data.
Passion to grow within a fast-paced environment whilst developing expertise.

Core Responsibilities
NAV preparation and review, investor capital account statements, quarterly/annual reporting against governing fund documents (LPAs), and comfort with private equity fund structures and co-investment vehicles specifically.
Third-party oversight.
Treasury and cash management — bank account/cash monitoring, FX transaction coordination, credit facility usage.
Multi-jurisdictional regulatory awareness — exposure to offshore/onshore fund jurisdictions.
Performance metrics fluency — working knowledge of IRR, TVPI, MOIC and DPI, and how these feed into investor-facing performance reporting.
Familiarity with investor/LP reporting portals and portfolio monitoring or fund data platforms.
Audit support — preparing working papers and handling auditor queries directly.
Cross-functional stakeholder management.

Shape the Future of an Established Animal Welfare Charity
An established and respected animal welfare charity is entering an exciting new chapter, and we are looking for an experienced Head of Finance & Corporate Services to join the Senior Leadership Team and play a key role in shaping the organisation's future.
This is a newly created position with a broad strategic remit.
Working closely with the CEO and Board of Trustees, you will provide financial leadership, commercial insight and constructive challenge, while also overseeing a range of corporate services including HR, IT, procurement, systems and organisational improvement.

The Role
As Head of Finance & Corporate Services, you will be responsible for:

Producing insightful management accounts, KPIs and financial reporting to support effective decision-making
Ensuring robust financial controls, governance, risk management and regulatory compliance

Overseeing cash flow, reserves, legacy income and treasury management
Providing strategic oversight of outsourced HR and IT services
Leading procurement, supplier relationships and professional advisers
Supporting digital transformation, systems development and organisational change
Leading, developing and supporting the corporate services function
About You
You will be a professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) with significant senior-level finance experience.
You will have a strong track record across financial planning, forecasting, management accounts, governance and strategic financial analysis, combined with the confidence and credibility to influence and constructively challenge senior stakeholders.
You will be comfortable translating complex financial information into clear commercial insight, enabling the CEO, Trustees and wider leadership team to make informed strategic decisions.
Experience within the charity, not-for-profit or public sector would be advantageous, particularly knowledge of Charity SORP, restricted and unrestricted funds and Trustee-led governance.
Experience or understanding across areas such as HR, IT, procurement, systems development or digital transformation would also be beneficial.
Above all, we are looking for someone who is collaborative, commercially minded, solutions-focused and passionate about continuous improvement.
