A well-regarded law firm in the heart of Liverpool is looking to appoint a Senior Legal Cashier to join its accounts team.
This is a permanent, full office based role, offering the opportunity to take a lead role in the day-to-day running of the accounts function.
The firm is looking for someone with a solid background in legal cashiering whos confident managing core financial processes and supporting the wider finance team.
You'll need to be comfortable working independently, able to prioritise a busy workload, and happy to get involved in the finer detail of daily finance operations.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Processing daily banking, cheque payments and petty cash
- Posting bills, costs transfers and inter-account transfers
- Managing client file openings and closures, including conflict checks
- Posting nominal expenses and managing departmental allocations
- Handling faster, telegraphic and international payments
- Processing deposit accounts, standing orders and direct debits
- Matching daily bank statements and completing monthly reconciliations
- Calculating and applying interest to client balances
- Reviewing residual balances and liaising with fee earners
- Assisting with probate distribution accounts and completion statements
- Reviewing supplier statements and helping resolve queries
- Identifying and logging compliance breaches, and supporting process improvements
In addition to the technical side of the role, the firm is looking for someone with a professional, approachable manner who is confident communicating with both colleagues and external contacts.
The ability to stay organised, spot potential issues early, and manage your own workload is essential.
What you\'ll need:
- Previous experience in a legal cashier role
- A strong working knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules (SARs)
- Familiarity with legal accounting systems and Microsoft applications
- A high level of accuracy, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- A positive, proactive approach and good team spirit
