Key Responsibilities:
Perform MIG and MAG welding on mild steel components for marine and offshore structures
Fabricate and weld steel plates of various thicknesses to high-quality marine-grade standards
Interpret and work from technical and engineering drawings to ensure accurate fabrication
Carry out burning/cutting operations using Oxy-Propane equipment
Assist in fabrication, installation, repair and modification of marine structures and equipment
Support dry dock and shipyard repair activities, including shell plating, structural stiffeners, and reinforcement work
Operate general workshop machinery and hand tools, including:
Guillotines
Hydraulic steel workers
Angle grinders and gas torches
Carry out work in both workshop and in-situ on marine vessels, occasionally in confined spaces and at heights
Maintain safe working practices in accordance with company HSE procedures and site-specific safety protocols
Essential Requirements:
Proven experience in MIG & MAG welding of mild steel in a marine or heavy industrial environment
Ability to support both workshop-based fabrication and onboard vessel repairs and modifications
Competency in steel burning, measuring, marking out, and assembly techniques
Full UK Driving Licence
Willingness to work occasional weekends, and travel for short durations to support offshore or dockside projects if required
Eligibility to work on MOD sites – successful candidates must be able to pass BPSS security clearance (arranged and funded by the client)
A strong work ethic, ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Desirable (but not essential):
Current or previous MOD site experience
Familiarity with Lloyds or DNV welding standards
Confined space or working at height certifications
