RPM Industrial Coatings Group in Hudson, NC is looking for 2nd Shift QC Technician (Shift Differential).
$1,000 Sign-On Bonus!
GENERAL SUMMARY: Assists with application and monitoring of established quality procedures and methods for production batches and new raw materials.
Compiles, tabulates and summarizes QC data for analysis.
Prepares and communicates variables and deviations from prescribed standards of quality.
Maintains statistical records having to do with quality, nature and causes of defects in D365.
Expedites and follows up changes to allow for prescribed quality standards.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Check production batches by comparison to standards
Advise batchmaker of any necessary adjustments to apply to product batch
Recheck batch after adjustments are made until product is within standard product specifications
Use proper analytical tools to compare product to standard specifications and to wet and/or dry samples
Record results of comparison in D365
Consult with QC manager on products more than 10% out of product specifications
Upon approval of product record data in D365
Check bulk raw materials against standard product specifications upon receipt
Consult Quality control manual for specific requirements for product analysis of production batches as well as raw materials
Calibrate QC/QA equipment as required
Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager

Title: Testing Technician
Summary:
Support the Research & Development laboratory team in the development, modification, and evaluation of high-performance corrosion-resistant coatings, linings, and fireproofing products.
This role reports directly to the Testing Supervisor or senior lab personnel and plays a key part in ensuring product quality and innovation.

Experience and Education Required
High school diploma
Proficient math and written communication skills
Good computer skills - knowledge of Excel required
Up to three years in industry related QC field helpful
Prior batchmaking experience helpful
Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Successful completion of Munsel Color test, helpful
Familiarity with products used in batchmaking processes
Familiarity with standard analytical tools
Reasoning Ability

The Role
Optical Glazing Technician role within a modern, in-house optical lab supplying prescription spectacles and sunglasses
Manufacture and glaze prescription eyewear to a consistently high standard, working accurately and efficiently
Read and interpret optical prescriptions, including more complex and varifocal lenses
Handle lens selection, blocking, edging, fitting and finishing across a variety of lens and frame types
Quality-check completed work and troubleshoot glazing and lens-fitting issues as they arise
Work with rimless, sports and wrap glazing alongside standard prescription work
Follow Health & Safety, COSHH and company procedures throughout
What We're Looking For
Previous experience in an optical glazing laboratory is essential
Confident using focimeters, blockers, edgers and glazing equipment
Good knowledge of spectacle lenses, coatings and frame materials
Comfortable interpreting a full range of optical prescriptions
Experience with rimless, sports or wrap glazing would be an advantage
Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay focused on precision work
Reliable, organised and a good team player

Title: Testing Technician
Summary:
Support the Research & Development laboratory team in the development, modification, and evaluation of high-performance corrosion-resistant coatings, linings, and fireproofing products.
This role reports directly to the Testing Supervisor or senior lab personnel and plays a key part in ensuring product quality and innovation.
The Technician I will perform routine laboratory testing, conduct quality control evaluations, grade test panels, complete paint calculations, and maintain accurate laboratory documentation-all while gaining hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced team members.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred: 1 year of college-level Chemistry coursework or a minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience.
Must successfully pass a Jaeger Eye Test.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Regular exposure to various chemicals including, but not limited to, amines, polyamides, isocyanates, epoxies, alkyds, acrylics, and certain inorganic compounds.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
Must be able to pass an annual respirator medical evaluation and pulmonary function test in compliance with OSHA regulations.
Essential Functions:
Operate laboratory instruments and perform testing in accordance with established procedures.
Maintain accurate, organized, and timely documentation in lab notebooks and digital systems.
Grade test panels and record results following standard evaluation methods.
Assist with data collection and analysis to support product performance and troubleshooting.
