JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Production Operator to join our Avon manufacturing team.
You will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining machines to create finished goods.
The ideal candidate ensures strict quality control, pristine product finished product appearance for shipping while working safely and efficiently in a manufacturing environment.
This is a small facility where Team Work is paramount.
Cross training opportunities exist for other areas within the facility including but not limited to extrusion, weigh up, mixing, shipping/receiving.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Operation: Set up, operate, and monitor automated or manual equipment.
Adjust dials, valves, and nozzles to regulate processes as needed.
Material Preparation: Select, measure, and mix materials according to predetermined formulas and specifications.
Quality Assurance: Inspect parts and finished products closely to identify defects.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment.
Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and report major issues to the supervisor.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all company and OSHA safety guidelines regarding hazardous materials and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate daily production logs, material usage records, and equipment maintenance sheets.
Shipping & Packaging: Prepare finished products for shipment, ensuring order accuracy, product quality, and compliance with customer and company shipping requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: 1-3 years of experience operating industrial equipment.
Skills:
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to adjust complex machinery.
Excellent color perception and attention to detail.
Basic math skills for measuring/mixing ratios and computing production rates.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand for long periods, perform repetitive motions, and lift/move up to 50 lbs.
Must be comfortable wearing required respiratory and safety gear in a manufacturing environment as required.

Working Conditions
Full-time position, 1st Shift, M-F with potential for overtime as needed to satisfy Customer needs..

Here's what you can expect every day:
Stages and charges necessary raw materials into process flow tanks.
Follows batch work instructions in order to manufacture quality products.
Prepares disperser and letdown tank for production, including any necessary equipment clean up.
Monitors and controls high-speed disperser, mixer, pumps, flow meters and other instruments in order to make sure that a batch is produced according to work instructions.
Adjust a batch, under QC guidance, until it is approved.
Get batch tickets from floor supervisor and discuss with floor supervisor the best order.
Determine raw materials needed.
Housekeeping - Clean up work area to 5S standards, takes out trash, participate in cycle count and inventory program.
May assist in other departments such as filling, and material handling or help make sample batches
Ensure work area is safe, clean and free of recognizable hazards, communicating all spills or other hazards to the shift supervisor
Responsible for Dust collector cleanouts when required.
Required Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
One year of production experience
Able to read batch tickets and prepare labels for products; basic math
Able to operate high-speed dispersers and other operating equipment
Ability to lift 50-100 pounds, read digital scales and flow meters
Experienced forklift operator

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Production Operator starts, troubleshoots, and operates manufacturing equipment safely.
There are three Production Operator levels (I, II, & III).
The level will be determined by experience, ability to assume various roles on the plant floor, and demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and problem-solve machine issues resulting in efficient cycles and minimal downtime.
The Production Operator will operate production equipment, including industrial blenders, in accordance with the established production schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform work in a safe manner by following all written and verbally communicated safety rules and procedures.
Follow standard work procedures to operate and maintain assigned machine(s).
Routinely meet or exceed production output rates per standards.
Ensure product meets certain tolerances and specifications.
Perform routine inspections per quality standards.
Understand production instructions.
Maintain accurate paperwork.
Inspects equipment, structures, and materials to identify problems or defects prior to production to ensure a clean, clear and safe work environment.
Reads and follows work orders and formulas to meet production specifications and schedules.
Examines materials, ingredients, or product per quality standards.
Weighs or measures materials, ingredients, and products per requirements.
Adds and mixes raw materials according to specifications.
Transfers materials, supplies, and products between work areas.
Discharges blenders of powder when necessary.
Ensures quality and conformity of blended products to meet standards.
Ensures equipment is set-up, cleaned, sanitized, and operating properly before, after and between runs.
Completes cleaning logs and notifies quality control for hygiene testing.
Records operational and production data on specified forms/production documents.
Reports malfunctions to a supervisor and confirms proactive and routine maintenance.
Conducts on-going assessment of quality control and operational procedures.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: No formal education required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: No prior experience or training.

Ensure reliable operation of facility support processes and utilities (i.e.

Diagnose/Troubleshoot, repair/replace and maintain facility electrical systems (e.g.
programmable logic controllers, human machine interfaces, lighting) and components (e.g.
sensors, switches, valves)
Diagnose/Troubleshoot, repair/replace and maintain facility mechanical systems (e.g.
product vessels/reactors, pumps) and components (e.g.
piping, manual valves)
Investigate equipment/process failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation
Assist Maintenance Supervisor to arrange and coordinate contractor tasks (including equipment rental) to support facility and process maintenance/repairs
Serve, as needed, on process hazard analysis (PHA) teams/sessions

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma required
EXPERIENCE:
One-year certificate from college or technical school and 1-2 years' experience OR

Product Quality
Work to maximize equipment efficiency and quality for output.
Member of the facility QIC.
Ensure identification of root cause and subsequent prevention of future customer complaints.
Assist in the training of operators with a focus on quality critical product specifications and process parameters.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree from a 4 or 5-year college or university.
B.S.
in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering.

During the probationary period, this position will work on the 1st Shift.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs work safely, according to safety rules and guidelines, and follows Tremco's Escalation Policy for any safety or quality concerns.
Communicates with Team Lead and/or Supervisor during shift changes and throughout the shift.
Understands and operates the HMI at the various stations along the line to keep the line operating safely and efficiently.
Monitors weight, speed, and other metrics along the line.
Operates forklift to move raw materials, load carrier, and move finished product.
Makes raw material batches in the appropriate mixer(s), according to specifications.
Performs quality control tests on the batches, per established guidelines.
Ensures proper labels are being used on the taping machine.
Fills appropriate-sized pails, drums, or totes, labels filled items, and places pails/drums on pallet.
Performs daily housekeeping/cleaning of immediate area and other surrounding areas and departments, as needed.
Performs other duties, as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Previous manufacturing, warehouse, or similar industry experience preferred.
