Mechanical Design Engineer

As we continue to push the boundaries of innovation, we are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our friendly, family feel and dynamic team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation and advancing our product designs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the design of customised solutions to ensure our company remains at the forefront of our industry.
- Conducting thorough research on industry trends and developments to inform design decisions.
- Collaborating closely with Sales, Service, Engineering, and Suppliers to understand customer needs, analyse competitors, and position our products effectively.
- Taking ownership of design projects from conception to installation, ensuring accuracy and effective communication with stakeholders throughout.
- Maintaining strong communication with strategic customers, analysing production processes, and identifying opportunities for design improvements.
- Developing and testing design models, layouts, and enhancements in collaboration with suppliers.
- Maintaining an up-to-date CAD library (SolidWorks) of machine and line layout drawings.
- Promoting a positive attitude and embodying our brand values at all times.
- Upholding the best interests of the company and operating within legal and regulatory frameworks.
Necessary Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or HNC in an Engineering discipline, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record as a Mechanical Design Engineer, preferably in capital equipment or special purpose machinery design.
- Experience with gearboxes, motors, pneumatic cylinders, and bearings integration into machinery.
- Proficiency in Solidworks 3D software or similar design packages for detailed drawings.
- Collaborative team player with a hands-on approach and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively within a small design department.
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
Note: Travel to customer sites may be required (20%+)
