A dynamic and innovative leader in the maritime industry is seeking a Financial Accountant to join their esteemed Finance team.

What will you be doing?



  • Monitor and report on accounting discrepancies.

  • Perform month-end and year-end close processes.

  • Assist and support monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, including financial audits.

  • Prepare, develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, creating periodic reports to compare budgeted costs to actual costs.

  • Review financial documents and transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Prepare general ledger entries, maintain records, and reconcile accounts.

  • Manage and perform bank payments.

  • Raise and monitor purchase orders and invoices.

  • Handle banking, balance sheet reconciliations, and cash flow forecasting.

  • Code and assign vendor invoices for managerial approval.

  • Respond to vendor and employee queries from the central finance inbox.

  • Plan and prioritize assignments and projects in a constantly changing environment.



Are you the ideal candidate?



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field.

  • AAT qualified or equivalent.

  • 4+ years of experience in accounting or finance.

  • Experienced in bookkeeping.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.

  • Robust Excel skills, including the ability to create pivot tables, develop graphs and charts, and utilize formulas.

  • Knowledge of Portuguese accounting principles is a plus.

  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills.

  • Proven ability to work with financial systems, preferably Netsuite.

  • Strong communicator with the ability to explain detailed and technical topics to non-finance stakeholders.

  • Integrity, credibility, and maturity for handling confidential issues.

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Critical thinking and the ability to show initiative.

  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
