Finance Director

Our client is a respected and forward-thinking legal services firm, known for its commitment to professional excellence and continuous improvement.

They are now seeking a strategic and experienced Finance Director to lead their finance function and play a key role in supporting the firm’s growth and operational success.

Role Overview:
As Finance Director, you will oversee all aspects of financial management, including reporting, compliance, and team leadership.

You will be responsible for driving improvements across finance operations, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and maintaining regulatory compliance.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical expertise and the ability to develop and inspire a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead and mentor the finance team, ensuring timely month-end reporting and compliance with all relevant regulations


  • Develop a deep understanding of reporting structures and general ledger systems to support accurate financial reporting


  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, working collaboratively with other departments on budgeting and forecasting


  • Identify and implement process improvements to optimise resources and improve operational efficiency


  • Provide technical guidance on complex or non-routine financial transactions


  • Drive the adoption of procedural improvements and technology enhancements to streamline finance operations


  • Conduct training sessions to upskill team members and encourage professional development


  • Collaborate with the Director on strategic projects and operational improvements


  • Manage the finance team to ensure consistency, compliance, and timely delivery of financial information


Qualifications and Skills:



  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or equivalent)


  • Proven experience in finance leadership roles, ideally within the legal, property, or professional services sectors


  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams


  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities


  • In-depth knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting principles


  • Previous auditing experience and a strong focus on regulatory compliance


  • Proficient in financial systems and accounting software


  • Highly analytical with exceptional attention to detail
