Job Description Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in Berkshire for a Finance Manager to join the team on a temporary basis.
The postholder will be a key contributor to the 2025/26 budget and MTFS refresh and will support the Strategic Finance Manager in developing the medium-term financial planning and budget processes.
The key aim is delivery of longer-term financial sustainability in a complex and financially challenged authority.
The role will also coordinate financial monitoring and reporting processes across the Council ensuring regular reporting to the council's leadership, improving current processes and ensuring that they are fit for purpose and provide information that aligns financial and service delivery, providing insights to decision-makers, working closely with Finance Business Partners, and coordinating processes for development of financial mitigations.
Candidate Criteria
CCAB/CIMA Qualified Accountant or Equivalent
Experienced in a senior finance role within a Local Authority
Experience of budget management and contributing to MTFS
Great communication skills with the ability to work well on own initiative as well as part of a team.

Stock sorting, marking/labelling and putting away stock to specific racking locations
Stock check accuracy
Goods outward activity and controls
Pick, pack and label customer orders to achieve agreed turn-around targets
Execute internal order picks instructions to meet manufacturing schedule timescales
Interface with couriers to load orders for dispatch to external customers
Adhere to ‘advise' and documentation controls
Segregate, record and report defective or damaged material
Investigate and implement appropriate corrective action following; errors, customer complaints, internal workplace audits etc.
Maintain a safe work environment complying with Health & Safety and Operational procedures.
Requirements:
Valid Forklift License essential.
Previous Warehouse Experience highly desirable, ideally within a Steel or Heavy goods industry.
Leaving Certificate completed.
Literate in Microsoft Office or the equivalent.
Ability to learn business information systems.
Excellent verbal and strong written communication skills
Ability to use time productively, maximise efficiency and meet challenging work goals
Banksman/Crane experience an advantage.
Physically fit to work in an environment that involves continuous lifting/moving of Stainless & Mild steel sheets and steel components (approx.
25 Kg's).
Be honest, trusting and respectful of customers and colleagues at all times
Possess a strong work ethic with a “can do” attitude.
Demonstrate excellent attention to detail
Possess a high level of fitness with an ability to multitask

Responsibilities
Carry out preventative, emergency, and predictive maintenance of all equipment throughout the factory
Liaise with and assist any 3rd party contractors in carrying out their duties on site.
Troubleshoot with respect to repair of all equipment on the production floor, whilst ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum
Maintain a high standard to Health & Safety during maintenance work.
Complete all required documentation accurately
Conduct mechanical and electrical repairs within the factory
Requirements:
FAS mechanical diploma/ Trade certificate
At least 2 years' experience in a similar role

Experience in pneumatics would be beneficial
