Service Care Solutions is proud to be recruiting for an experienced Accountant to work with a local authority in Tyne and Wear.

This is a unique opportunity to join the Housing Finance team and contribute to the effective management of housing finances within a respected local authority.

Role Overview

In this crucial role, you will manage the Housing Revenue Account, rent setting, and service charges while playing a significant part in business planning.

Your expertise will ensure compliance with financial regulations and support the strategic financial management of the local authority's housing services.

Key Responsibilities

• Housing Revenue Account: Oversee the Housing Revenue Account, ensuring precise financial reporting and adherence to relevant legislation.


• Rent Setting & Service Charges: Develop and implement rent-setting policies, manage service charges, and ensure alignment with best practices and statutory requirements.


• Business Planning: Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making in business planning processes.


• Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and stakeholders, ensuring clarity and accuracy.


• Budget Management: Assist in budget preparation, monitoring, and management, offering advice and support to budget holders.


• Compliance & Governance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal policies, and best practices within the local government finance environment.

About You

To excel in this role, you will need:

• CCAB qualification (CIPFA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent) with evidence of continuous professional development (CPD).


• A thorough understanding of housing finance, including Housing Revenue Account, rent setting, and service charges.
  
  Comprehensive knowledge of financial regulations, business planning, and local government finance practices.


• Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills, capable of interpreting complex financial information and presenting it clearly to non-financial stakeholders.


• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and support colleagues in achieving common goals.
