Job Description


Barnet Council are seeking an experienced Adult Social Worker to join their team and support with statutory care and support planning.

As an Adult Social Worker, you will be responsible for conducting individual assessments, facilitating self-assessments, and developing personalised care and support plans that maximise long-term independence and choice for adults.


Key Responsibilities



  • Conduct individual assessments and facilitate self-assessments

  • Develop personalised care and support plans

  • Conduct risk assessments and Mental Capacity Act assessments

  • Manage an allocated caseload in compliance with statutory requirements

  • Liaise with other local services and specialist teams to deliver a seamless service

  • Encourage the contribution of adults and their advocates, relatives, carers, and support workers

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of available local provision and make appropriate recommendations and referrals

  • Promote the use of direct payments where appropriate

  • Procure care and support including equipment and adaptations


Requirements



  • At least 4 years of experience as an Adult Social Worker

  • Knowledge of the Care Act 2024 and Mental Capacity legislation

  • Registered social work degree

  • Social work England registered

  • Ability to manage an allocated caseload in compliance with statutory requirements and professional best practice

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other local services and specialist teams

  • Ability to promote the use of direct payments where appropriate

  • Ability to procure care and support including equipment and adaptations
