Position Summary:


In this role you will be responsible for managing plant-wide engineering projects, which include capital, process, or productivity improvement projects.

Other responsibilities will include helping with equipment overhauls, equipment modifications, and plant layout changes.

Your experience will provide engineering support for the site maintenance staff as well as maintaining site Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) as part of the Process Safety Management program.


Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for coordination and execution of Capital Budget projects.
  • Responsible for key elements of the Process Safety Management (PSM) system at the plant.

    Specifically, management of change (MOC), mechanical integrity (MI), operating procedures, process hazards analysis (PHA), and pre-start up safety reviews (PSSR).
  • Maintain Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) to accurately reflect any changes in plant equipment or processes and coordinate with the Environmental Health & Safety Team to maintain an effective Process Safety Management program
  • Work with Plant Management and maintenance staff to ensure effective preventive maintenance is in place and that chronic equipment failures are addressed.
  • Assist with the conceptualization, development, and management of lean manufacturing initiatives in conjunction with continuous improvement team to improve site productivity.
  • Assists in establishing measurement methodologies to evaluate project effectiveness
  • Support the Carboline Manufacturing site Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives.

    Keep up to date on electrical one-line drawings and ensure that biannual IR scans are performed.
  • Take an active role in hazard recognition and injury prevention by following all safety rules, regulations, and reporting all injuries and incidents to your supervisor.
  • Follow all environmental rules and regulations to ensure hazardous materials and waste are managed in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Commit to the Company's safety and quality programs.



Requirements:

  • 4-year degree in Engineering or equivalent experience, Chemical Engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • 3+ years Operations and Engineering experience.
  • Ability to travel (up to 20%) to support other sites as needed.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 3 years of batch mixing operations
  • Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) system.
  • Familiarity with PLCs and automation



Physical Requirements:


This position may involve exposure to various chemicals as required in the manufacture of protective coatings.

This position may require physical activity and require computer usage for an extended period of time - up to 8 hours a day.

Occasionally lifts, carries, and works directly with mechanical tools in support of equipment start-up or maintenance.
