Reactive Maintenance Officer

Service Care Solutions are looking to hire a Reactive Maintenance Officer to work within the Merseyside Police on a 12-month contract.

Location: Merseyside

Job role/responsibilities:
To deliver a continuous building reactive and proactive repair estate and facilities management service throughout the year, delivering an out of hours emergency call out facility, via an established rota, to designated buildings throughout the Force estate in line with all current relevant legislation and to agreed standards.

• The post holder will be qualified with a recognised building / electrical / mechanical qualification, minimum HNC or NVQ Level 4 and be able to evidence 5 years post qualification experience working within a built environment related discipline.


• The post holder would be a full member of a built environment related professional institute ensuring the required level of expertise for this role preferably, but not limited to IWFM, RICS, CIBSE, CIOB, or CIAT.


• Knowledge and experience in the operation of relevant statutory regulations, including asbestos, Health and Safety working practices and procedures is essential which needs to demonstrate by a formal Institution of Occupational Safety and Health qualification (IOSH), and a Construction Skills Certification Scheme managing safety qualification, would also be desirable or currently working towards the qualifications.


• A thorough knowledge and practical experience of Police and Crime Commissioners Standing Orders and Financial Regulations, together with Force Financial Instructions in the procurement of services.


• Have knowledge of Sustainability and Carbon Management matters, Schedule of Rates, also the Building Energy Management System to ensure opportunities where changes to the BEMS will deliver energy savings.


• The post holder must have good interpersonal and negotiating skills with an ability to work to strict deadlines.
  
  Also, excellent written and presentation skills to communicate effectively to Chief Officers Group, PCC and other Senior levels.


• The ability to work in a large team, with a diverse workload is essential for the post holder, together with a flexible approach to work and an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.


• Full driving licence and suitable transport for travel.

Knowledge/Experience required:

• Must be a full member of a relevant professional institute (preferably IWFM, RICS, CIBSE, CIOB, or CIAT).


• The post holder must have a recognised building/electrical/mechanical qualification (minimum HNC or NVQ Level 4) and 5 years of post-qualification experience.


• Essential knowledge and experience in statutory regulations, including asbestos and Health and Safety practices, demonstrated by an IOSH qualification.
  
  A Construction Skills Certification Scheme managing safety qualification is desirable.


• Thorough knowledge and practical experience of Police and Crime Commissioners Standing Orders, Financial Regulations, and Force Financial Instructions for procurement.


• Knowledge of Sustainability and Carbon Management, Schedule of Rates, and Building Energy Management Systems to identify energy-saving opportunities.


• Must have strong interpersonal and negotiating skills, the ability to meet strict deadlines, and excellent written and presentation skills to communicate with senior levels.


• Ability to work in a large team with a diverse workload, flexible approach, and capability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
