Customer Relationships Manager

About the Team and the Role:
The vision of the Metropolitan Police Service (Met) is to make London safe for everyone.

We are transforming to deliver high-quality policing services efficiently and cost-effectively, in line with the Mayor of London's Police and Crime Plan.

With changing operational demands, the Met is also working towards achieving Net Zero Carbon status by 2030, transitioning our fleet of 5000 vehicles to zero-emission-capable models.


Role Overview:
As a Senior Customer Relationships Manager, you will lead and develop a team to enhance fleet operations, ensuring a safe, fit-for-purpose fleet that meets operational demands.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Act as Fleet business partner and champion for assigned customer groups.

  • Collaborate with senior customer partnerships and lead working groups.

  • Manage demand and asset replacement plans.

  • Drive the transition to hybrid and electric fleets.

  • Ensure compliance with H&S and COSHH obligations.

  • Deliver performance improvements and manage budgets.

  • Develop relationships with senior stakeholders.

  • Collect and analyze performance data.

  • Champion continuous improvement and innovative team management.

  • Support ad hoc programmes, projects, and initiatives.



Required Knowledge and Skills:



  • Understanding of operations within a complex organisation.

  • Experience in managing customer expectations and balancing supply and demand.

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and change management skills.

  • Ability to analyse complex data and deliver customer insights.

  • Excellent customer service and performance management.



Qualifications and Experience:



  • Level 5 qualification (ILM L5, HND, or similar) in business, management, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience managing senior-level customer relationships and service delivery teams in complex environments.

  • Proven track record in compliance, change management, and maintaining service performance.



Additional Information:



  • Vetting to CTC level required.

  • Hybrid working: 3 days a week in Sidcup office, with travel across London as needed.

  • Initial 6-month contract, with potential for extension.
