We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Benefit Assessor to join a team in Enfield on a full-time temporary ongoing basis.

The Benefit Assessor will assess all types of Housing Benefit including Supported, Temporary accommodation, self-employed, PFAs and Council Tax Support claims, as well as dealing with customer's enquiries, and delivering excellent customer care.
Requirements

• Previous experience working in a similar role


• Knowledge of legislation, policies, and procedures surrounding Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit


• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and accessible manner


• Good organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage workload efficiently, and meet deadlines


• Experience providing an effective service to members of the public


• Ability to work to tight deadlines and targets

Role Expectations

• Assess Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit applications, from a wide range of backgrounds.
  
  Includes investigating overpayment claims, initial investigation of complaints, and verifying claims


• Advise customers, promote the use of available and relevant Benefits, and promote application


• Identify overpaid benefits and initiate recovery process in accordance with legislation


• Conduct home visits where necessary to aid in benefit related enquiries


• Liaise with external partners, including local authorities and support agencies, and ensure effective service is delivered


• Develop working relationships with colleagues, as well as key partners


• Work in partnership with the Council Tax Billing, Recovery, and Fraud sections and maintain effective communication


• Maintain Records: Accurately record all interactions, assessments, and decisions in line with relevant policies and procedures, ensuring confidentiality and data protection guidelines are strictly followed
