Financial Reporting Manager

Our client is a leading logistics company renowned for its innovative solutions and exceptional service in the global logistics sector.

They are currently seeking a Financial Reporting Manager to join their growing team.

Job Overview:

The Financial Reporting Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the finance department, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of financial performance and statutory compliance.

This role involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders to maintain robust financial processes and systems.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Ensure all financial processes, systems, and controls are effective, with ongoing reviews and improvements in partnership with internal auditors.
  • Manage month-end and year-end financial procedures, meeting internal and external deadlines with accurate cut-off procedures.
  • Review Balance Sheet Reconciliation files for all companies.
  • Maintain Intercompany accounts, performing monthly reconciliations and documenting agreements with other Group companies.
  • Prepare monthly consolidated management accounts with variance analysis and present findings to the CEO and CFO before final submission to Group.
  • Administer the accounting system (ShipNet), including setting up new companies, GL codes, and managing financial periods.
  • Administer the expenses system (MyExpenses), including setting up new codes, managing users, and acting as the main point of contact with the support team.
  • Manage VAT, PAYE, tonnage, and corporation tax matters, liaising with the Group Tax Manager and external tax advisers.
  • Oversee the completion of the year-end audit and prepare annual financial statements and associated reports within agreed timelines.
  • Oversee day-to-day cash management, ensuring appropriate liquidity in GBP and FOREX accounts to meet daily requirements, in partnership with the Senior Finance Business Partner.
  • Prepare fortnightly multi-currency supplier payment runs, minimising FX exposure.
  • Approve all payments through the online banking portal.
  • Administer online banking and credit card systems, managing user access and accounts.

Other:


  • Manage a team of 4 experienced QBE staff.
  • Lead and support the Finance team on improvement projects, including process and system enhancements identified in internal audits and automation of financial procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting practice (GAAP), FRS102, and company policies.

    Stay updated on legislative changes and national guidance.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Businesses.

Experience and Skill Level Requirements:


  • Qualified ACA/ACCA.
  • Advanced proficiency in Office 365, particularly Excel.
  • Experience in producing consolidated Statutory Accounts for multiple entities.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and up-to-date experience with UK GAAP (FRS102).
  • Experience in audit or managing audits.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience interacting with senior managers, both financial and non-financial.
  • Ability to explain financial concepts clearly to non-financial staff.
  • Recent experience in producing high-quality monthly performance reports.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Reliable team player who actively shares knowledge and experience.

Desirable:


  • Knowledge of the shipping or marine/maritime industry.
  • Prior experience as a line manager.
