Senior Auditor

To support the Assurance & Risk Manager deliver a modern and effective Internal Audit service that has the skills and experience to be able to provide independent and objective assurance to help support services in achieving aims and objectives and add value through providing consultancy services.

Role: Senior Auditor

Location: Tyne and Wear.

Contract: 3 months on going

Rate: £23-£26 per hour.

Main Responsibilities

• Undertake audits and investigations in line with agreed Internal Audit (PSIAS compliant )procedures.


• Drafting clear and concise terms of reference and agreeing them with Heads of Service and Senior Managers.


• Drafting clear and concise audit reports considering the scope and objectives of the audit.


• Lead audits where the supervision, direction, and training of junior members of staff is required.


• Review the files and provide feedback to junior members of staff.


• Represent Internal Audit on project boards, working parties, etc, as and when required.


• Present audit reports to Heads of Service and Senior Managers.


• Deputise for Principal Auditors where required.


• Keeping up to date with developments in governance, risk management, control, and internal auditing.


• Employees will also have responsibilities to undertake necessary training and development that is required to perform the role and support the training of fellow employees if necessary.

Candidate requirements

• Financial qualifications or relevant experience relating to finance and/or auditing.


• Previous public sector auditor experience highly desirable.
