Job Title: Newly Qualified Social Worker - Independence and Access Service
Location: Haringey Council, London






Contract: 3 month initial contract


About the Role:


Haringey Council are looking for a passionate and dedicated Newly Qualified Social Worker to join their Independence and Access Service.This role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone at the beginning of their social work career to make a real difference in the community by providing crucial support to residents, particularly those with special needs, disabilities, and older people.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Customer Enquiries: Handle telephone, written, and email enquiries, responding appropriately to customer requests, complaints, and service inquiries.

  • Assistance and Support: Assist customers in understanding and completing documents, forms, and applications over the phone, ensuring that any special needs (such as disability, translation, or interpretation requirements) are addressed.

  • Referral Management: Initiate referrals to other agencies, order equipment for clients (following training), amend referrals, and screen them to gather further information.

  • Processing and Eligibility: Process referrals and apply agreed eligibility criteria, collecting additional information from referrers, service users, or carers as necessary.

  • Safeguarding: Work within agreed procedures, especially those relating to safeguarding adults, to ensure client safety and well-being.

  • Information and Advice: Provide accurate information and advice to members of the public from diverse backgrounds, covering a range of client groups including older people and those with physical disabilities.

  • Liaison and Signposting: Liaise with other departments, non-departmental services, and partner agencies, and signpost members of the public to appropriate services.

  • Routine Tasks: Manage emails, letters, and other routine tasks within the First Response team.


About You:



  • Qualifications: Recently qualified as a Social Worker with a commitment to applying your knowledge and skills in a practical, real-world environment.

  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to assist and advise diverse client groups effectively.

  • Enhanced DBS
