Band 7 Ward Manager - Older Adult Challenging Behaviour

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Mental Health Nurses to lead the Inpatient Ward team within the Older Adult Mental Health service on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.
The Unit is a 15-bedded ward dedicated to care for patients with behaviours that challenge.


Please note; Guernsey has adopted the AfC banding system, but have applied their own salary scale.


The current Guernsey Band 7 salary is up to £69,605 plus an annual bonus of £1,605 plus an additional £3,000 on completion of two and four years service.

Higher penalty rates apply; 36% evening/Saturday and 72% Sunday/BH

The island of Guernsey is in the Channel Islands and has a population of 65,000.

This unique integrated health service delivers a diverse range of healthcare services within the hospital, and supporting people in the wider community.


The Older Adult Mental Health Service has a four in-patient centres; including an assessment ward through to the later stages of an individual’s experience of dementia, as well as Community Day Services.


They have recently launched their Island-wide Dementia Framework; striving to make the island Dementia Friendly so that their older population feel valued and are treated with the dignity and respect that they so rightly deserve.
All of this is reliant on the excellent calibre of Nurse Managers recruited to a very high standard.

Person requirements:
Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration.
A minimum of five years post-registration experience, with at least two years at Band 6/Deputy Ward Manager level, or higher.
Experienced caring for Older Adult patients with behaviours that challenge.
Completion of a mentorship qualification.
Experience in leading, motivating and developing a team.
Passionate about leading a service that is robust while being innovative and open to considering new ways of working.
