Residential Support Worker

Job Purpose


The primary role of the Residential Support Worker (RSW) is to work as part of the staff team, under the


direction and supervision of the home management team, to provide care to the children and young


people placed at the designated children's home, in accordance with regulatory and legal requirements


and standards (e.g.

Children's Homes Regulations) and Company Policies and Procedures.

Promoting


and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people is paramount at all times.

The homes operate


24-hours each day, every day of the year, requiring round-the-clock staffing and management.



Adequate command of the spoken English


language and good verbal communication skills


Adequate English literacy (reading and writing)

Adequate numeracy skills


Domestic skills (e.g.

basic cooking)


Physical ability to learn and use techniques for


managing challenging behaviour, using physical


holding/restraint if necessary


Adequate IT skills




Ability to undertake sleeping-in duties


Ability to work the shift pattern and unsocial


hours


Ability to accept and use supervision
