Residential Child Care Worker

Job Description


Service Care Solutions has a new and exciting opportunity which has become available working as a Children's Residential Worker with Rochdale Council.


Rochdale Council are currently looking for someone who is happy to work 37 hours per week.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Provide a safe, secure, and supportive environment for children and young people.

  • Contribute to individual care plans and ensure the needs of the young people are met.

  • Work closely with families, social workers, and other professionals to support young people in care.

  • Encourage the personal development, health, and well-being of the young people.

  • Participate in the assessment and review process for each child.

  • Promote equality and diversity and actively oppose discriminatory practices.

  • Engage young people in outside interests and leisure activities.

  • Work flexibly on a rota basis, including sleep-ins as required.


Qualifications and Experience:



  • Experience in paid or voluntary work with young people (essential).

  • Level 3 Diploma in Children & Young People's Workforce, or a willingness to work towards it within 12 months of employment (desirable).

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to observe and record behaviour accurately.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of young people growing up.

  • Proficient in IT and software, including Microsoft Office.


Essential Criteria:



  • Must be at least 21 years of age in line with National Minimum Care Standards.

  • Physically fit to meet the demands of the role.

  • Willingness to work on a shift/rota basis, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
