Electrical Design Engineer


A well-established Mechanical and Electrical Engineering practice based in Liverpool, with over 30 years of experience, is seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team.

Known for delivering innovative M&E designs across a range of projects, from bespoke schemes to multi-million-pound developments, the firm has a strong reputation for quality in both the public and private sectors.

Their impressive portfolio includes healthcare, education, and commercial markets.



This is a full time, permanent role offering up to £40K per annum.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Electrical Design: Prepare small power and data layouts, fire alarm system designs, and lighting designs including calculations and light fitting selections.

  • Produce lighting schedules and containment drawings.

  • Develop strategies for security systems (CCTV, Intruder Alarm, Staff Attack), access control, nurse call, and assisted living warden call systems.

  • Draw up main electrical distribution schematics and specialist schematics (lighting, data, security, etc.).

  • Calculate cable sizing using appropriate software and produce distribution board schedules.

  • Prepare general arrangement (GA) layouts of services and photovoltaic panel designs.

  • Write detailed electrical specifications.



Cad / Revit Proficiency:



  • Understand company standards and layouts.

  • Utilize AutoCAD and Revit drawing protocols to produce basic layout drawings from sketches.



Ideal Candidate Profile:



  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in an M&E consulting environment.

  • HNC or degree qualified (recent graduates will also be considered).

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit.

  • Familiar with using Amtech software to support electrical design.

  • Strong team player with a commitment to high-quality work and career progression.

  • Comfortable attending client meetings and working to deadlines.
