Location: Across Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Essex and London

Salary: £40,000 per annum, plus travel expenses

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shifts: 5 days over 7, to be discussed at interview

About the role:


  • Independently prepare hot and cold meals for residents according to their needs and preferences
  • Assist in planning seasonal menus
  • Assist with event planning and execution
  • Carry out any reasonable request or instruction from the Catering and Hospitality Manager
  • Understanding and experience working with the IDDSI framework
  • Assist with training and development of staff
  • Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety Policy and regulations
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic environment to EHO standards
  • Carry out checks in the kitchen as required to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, for example recording fridge temperatures
  • Have full knowledge of and take responsibility to ensure adherence to infection control policies and procedures of the Department of Health and the company at all times
  • Report all accidents and incidents to the Person-in-Charge of the Home
  • Have full knowledge of the fire procedures, fire escapes and a working knowledge of the fire-fighting equipment

About you:


  • The right to live and work in the UK
  • Proven Chef experience in similar role and setting (i.e.

    a care home or school)
  • IDDSI experience is essential – familiarity with preparing and serving dysphagia-friendly meals
  • Certificate Level II in Food Safety and Hygiene
  • Knowledge of nutritional needs of older people
  • Health and Safety and regulatory requirements
  • A positive and flexible attitude towards work and the ability to work well in a team
