Variable Frequency Drive Engineer

The Role
As a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Engineer, you will be instrumental in the full lifecycle development of advanced drive systems, from initial customer engagement through design, testing, and implementation.

These systems are utilized in diverse applications such as shore supplies for ship equipment, ground supplies for aircraft, and drives for pumps and motors—each presenting unique and exciting technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities



  • Early Customer Engagement: Collaborate with clients to understand requirements, conduct feasibility studies, and deliver tailored technical solutions.

  • Design: Create system-level designs, including control algorithms, protection schemes, and component selection.

  • Development & Prototyping: Develop detailed specifications, build prototypes, and validate designs through simulations and modeling.

  • Testing & Validation: Perform comprehensive testing to ensure reliability and functionality, addressing any issues identified during analysis.

  • Documentation: Prepare technical manuals, test plans, and reports while maintaining thorough design records.

  • Installation & Maintenance: Oversee installation, commissioning, and ongoing support for systems at customer sites.

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of technological advancements and implement feedback to improve products and processes.



About You
To excel in this role, you will need:



  • Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in drive systems development.

  • Experience: Strong background in system-level design for drive systems, including control, protection, and communication systems.

    Experience in filter design, wound magnetic specifications, and site work.

  • Technical Expertise: Solid knowledge of variable frequency drives and power systems, with proficiency in control algorithms and protection schemes.

  • Analytical Skills: Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills for effective interaction and clear documentation.

  • Teamwork: Collaborative approach and ability to work independently when needed.

  • Technical Tools: Proficiency in CAD and electrical design tools, along with standard office software.
