Assistant Solicitor

Service Care Solutions is working with the Eljamel Inquiry.

They are seeking a skilled assistant solicitor to play a vital role in this high-profile Public Inquiry.

Currently in its early stages, this Inquiry offers the successful candidates a unique opportunity to contribute to its development and work closely with a dedicated team of legal professionals.

As an assistant solicitor, you will be integral to the legal team, responsible for investigating evidence, identifying key witnesses, and collaborating with other team members.

This is a rare opportunity to contribute to an important national public inquiry, gaining significant legal experience and exposure.

Key Responsibilities Of The Assistant Solicitor Role:

• Drafting key Inquiry documents, including Rule 8 requests for evidence.


• Reviewing and analysing recovered evidence, producing summaries and reports on relevance to the Inquiry's Terms of Reference.


• Taking statements from witnesses and managing statement takers.


• Overseeing the redaction and disclosure of evidence.


• Instructing and liaising with Counsel.


• Providing legal advice to the Chair of the Inquiry as required.


• Liaising with solicitors representing core participants.


• Ensuring compliance with the Inquiry's procedures and protocols.


• Managing GDPR compliance within the team.

Essential Requirements The Assistant Solicitor Role:

• Must be Scottish qualified Solicitor, on the role with Law Society of Scotland.


• Excellent attention to detail, particularly in handling high volumes of documents requiring rigorous legal analysis.


• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with all members of the Inquiry team.


• Flexibility and adaptability to work across various tasks in a small, dynamic team.

Offer:

• Day rate: £297.15 (Ltd)


• Duration: 12 months, with the possibility of a 12-month extension.
