Business Support Officer (Grade 4)


Are you passionate about supporting the growth of adult learners and providing excellent administrative support? We are looking for a motivated and efficient Business Support Officer to join an established Adult Learning team in Liverpool.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of adult education services while providing essential support in administrative and operational tasks.


As a Business Support Officer, you will manage the day-to-day administrative duties at our Adult Education Centres, ensuring smooth operations and excellent customer service.

You will play a key role in supporting learners, staff, and management, all while maintaining high standards in line with council policies and procedures.



  • £16.00 LTD per hour inclusive of holiday pay

  • Hybrid working, up to 3 days working from home

  • 1 month initial contract with possibility of extension after this


Responsibilities



  • Provide confidential business support to the Business and Operations Manager and staff at the Adult Education Centre.

  • Supervise administrative staff, ensuring effective workload prioritisation and delivery of service goals.

  • Maintain accurate records and systems for learner information, financial transactions, and HR data.

  • Assist with the enrolment process, including providing guidance to students on course options and fee payments.

  • Process financial orders, manage procurement, and ensure compliance with budget protocols.

  • Organise and attend meetings, taking minutes and ensuring actions are followed up.

  • Ensure health and safety policies are adhered to across all administrative processes.

  • Maintain office resources, including managing stock, filing, and equipment maintenance.

  • Liaise with other departments to ensure the collection and return of relevant monitoring data.


Requirements



  • Adequate numeracy and literacy skills.

  • Experience in administration, clerical duties, and customer service.

  • Knowledge of relevant IT software (e.g., Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, databases).

  • Experience managing a busy office and prioritising tasks for yourself and others.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Understanding of and commitment to the values of Liverpool City Council.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
