Key Responsibilities



  • Analysis

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of Sonar Systems using established methodologies.

  • Develop models and analysis based on performance requirements, collaborating with the system design team to meet customer specifications.

  • Performance Modelling, Design Trade-offs, and Product Development

  • Model performance under a wide range of realistic underwater acoustic conditions.

  • Evaluate sonar performance against customer requirements for inclusion in bid responses.

  • Use modelling and simulation to guide product decisions and refine operational concepts, quantifying the impact of design decisions on performance.

  • Support to Trials

  • Assist in the execution of sea trials.

  • Analyze trial data, assessing it against system performance requirements.

  • Produce comprehensive reports on trial data analysis, drawing clear conclusions on the sonar system's performance.

  • Reporting and Collaboration

  • Report regularly on work progress to project and product development teams.

  • Provide expertise during design reviews and customer presentations.



  • Skills, Qualifications, and Experience



    • A relevant Bachelor's degree (higher degree preferred) in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another STEM field.

      Other STEM degrees may be considered with demonstrated relevant skills.

    • Desirable experience in one or more of the following areas (preferably in the sonar or similar domain):

    • Operational Analysis

    • Trials Data Analysis

    • Performance Prediction Modelling

    • Performance Requirement Interpretation and Analysis

    • Finite Element Analysis & Fluid Dynamics

    • Transducer Design

    • Signal Processing & Data Analysis Algorithm Development

    • Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence

    • Strong communication skills, able to explain complex topics clearly to both expert and non-expert audiences.

    • Proficiency in mathematical and scientific modelling tools such as Python or MATLAB.

    • Proven ability to set and meet deadlines effectively.

    • Existing or attainable Security Clearance (SC).
