We are delighted to present an exciting opportunity for a skilled Controls Engineer to join a dynamic and innovative team based in Exeter.
This full-time, day-shift role is pivotal in designing, installing, commissioning, and maintaining automation and data collection systems, including PLCs and SCADA systems, to support the current and future needs of the business.
Controls Engineer Key Responsibilities
As a Controls Engineer, your primary duties will include:
- Programming PLCs to control industrial machinery and enhance automation.
- Setting up and maintaining SCADA systems for data collection and process monitoring.
- Improving machine controls and processes to increase overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Enhancing PLC data networks and refining process data capture systems.
- Leading control system upgrade projects and optimising control panel designs.
- Developing project plans for equipment installation, control system refurbishment, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Specifying, sourcing, and procuring machinery, equipment, and associated components.
- Supervising subcontractors to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery while adhering to health and safety standards.
- Providing technical expertise and conducting data analysis to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Assisting maintenance teams in diagnosing and resolving technical faults.
- Creating and maintaining comprehensive technical files for both new and existing equipment.
Control Engineer Requirements Essential:
- Completed an indentured technician/craft apprenticeship, holds a relevant degree, or possesses equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a maintenance or engineering role.
- Proficiency in PLC and SCADA systems.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with Microsoft Project.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Awareness of Health and Safety standards.
Control Engineer Desirable\'s:
- ONC qualification or higher in an electrical or controls engineering discipline.
- Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, drives, and Wonderware or Ignition SCADA systems.
- An enthusiastic and proactive attitude with a decision-making mindset.
- Flexibility and adaptability to change.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
