About the Service

This mental health service provides free, confidential, and high-quality community care for all ages across the Wheatbelt region.

Programs include:



  • Aboriginal Mental Health Program

  • Adult Mental Health Program

  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program

  • Seniors Mental Health Program

  • Youth Mental Health Program


The service is delivered by a dedicated team of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, social workers, nurses, and Aboriginal mental health workers.

With locally based teams in Northam, Gingin, Merredin, and Narrogin, outreach is further supported by telehealth services.



Position Details

As the Director Clinical Services Mental Health, you will:



  • Oversee medical staff, including consultants, registrars, and locums.

  • Develop and enhance the Alcohol and Other Drug Consultation Liaison Service.

  • Mentor and expand the team through the Rural Psychiatry Training Program.

  • Provide strategic guidance as part of the Mental Health Executive Advisory Group.

  • Lead day-to-day operations and drive innovation in mental health services.


Employment Details:



  • Fixed-term appointment covering long service leave starting 14 April 2025.

  • Full-time (80 hours per fortnight) preferred; part-time and sessional options considered.

  • Salary: AUD $395,490-$502,265 p.a.

    pro rata, including allowances and superannuation.

Requirements

Essential:



  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with specialist registration in psychiatry (FRANZCP or equivalent).

  • Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership and governance.

  • Strong communication and cultural competency skills.


Desirable:



  • Experience in rural or regional health services.

  • Involvement in training programs for mental health professionals.
