Deputy Care Manager

Job Specification: Deputy Manager (Children's Residential Home)

Location: Castleford

Salary: Starting at £36,270.00 per annum, with an increase upon successful completion of a 6-month probationary period

Hours: 46.5 hours per week, including office hours, 24-hour shifts, and on-call duties

Tudor Employment Agency are seeking an experienced and passionate Deputy Manager to join our team at a new children's residential home in Castleford.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in children's residential care and experience managing teams in a similar setting.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and support the team to deliver high-quality care for children and young people
  • Assist the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home
  • Act as a role model and mentor for staff, fostering a positive and inclusive team culture
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and policies
  • Manage and participate in the emergency on-call rota (1 week per month)
  • Drive children and young people to appointments, education, social events, and contact sessions
  • Take part in staff supervision, appraisals, and training programs
  • Support young people in achieving their individual goals and development plans

Qualifications and Experience:


  • A minimum of 2 years' experience managing a team in a children's residential setting
  • Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare/Children's Workforce or Level 4 Children, Young People, and Families Practitioner (Residential) qualification (or currently working towards one)
  • A full UK driving licence (essential)

Working Hours:

46.5 hours per week, including:

Three office days (09:00–17:00)

One 24-hour shift (08:00–23:00, followed by a sleep-in and a half-hour handover the following day)

Hours equate to 201.5 hours per month
