Residential Support Worker

We are looking for a Residential Support Worker to join our clients Residential Children's Home based in Southampton


You must have full right to work in the UK to apply for this role.


About the team


Our client based in Southampton is a children's home supporting 5 young males between the ages of 10-17 years with Learning Disabilities and Autism.

The children in this home have a range of autonomy from complex needs to high functioning Autism.

The home promotes young people's independence and enhances on their activities and skill set through offering a stable home environment and encouraging activities in the community.


Young person number 1: Likes to play on You Tube, gaming, tv.

Can be known to hit himself, cause nose bleeds and self-injure.


Young person number 2: Chinese/English descent, fragmented communication, previous self-injury, needs to self-regulate in his own space, hitting doors, tables, walls.


Young person number 3: 2:1 support, full support with personal care, complex learning disabilities, currently not in education, moved from Wales to England in unregulated environment.

ADHD, very active and mobile.


Young person number 4: most able, bright, academic, will verbally challenge.


Young person number 5: Youngest in the home, gets emotionally heightened, and mirrors poor behaviours.



About you


As a Residential Support Worker, you'll offer emotional support to young people and assist with daily activities like personal care and getting ready for school.

The boys like to have downtime as well so making sure they can spend time uninterrupted doing something they enjoy is key.


While there will be challenges, as these homes support young people with autism, learning difficulties, and mental health needs, the strong relationships and positive memories you build will be rewarding.

Many of their workers find it fulfilling to see young people overcome obstacles and thrive.


Shifts/Rotas:



  • Long Days:7am - 10pm

  • Late start: 2:00pm-10pm

  • Early Start: 7am - 2pm

  • Mid length: 10am-7pm (usually on weekends)
