Temporary Works Structural Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Temporary Works Structural Engineer to provide specialist engineering expertise across cladding remediation and construction projects.

This is a permanent, full-time role offering a mix of office, remote, and site-based work, with travel required across Greater London and surrounding areas.

Location: Greater London and surrounding areas (travel required)
Working Arrangement: Full-time, hybrid
Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead the verification and approval of temporary works designs across multiple projects

  • Carry out detailed wind loading calculations in line with current Eurocodes

  • Review scaffold loads, hoarding designs, welfare structures, and temporary access systems

  • Assess structural impacts of temporary works on existing buildings, podium decks, and substructures

  • Calculate load distribution solutions including spreaders, base plates, and transfer mechanisms

  • Produce clear, auditable calculation packs suitable for Building Control and BSR submission

  • Generate and review TG20:21 compliance sheets using industry-standard software

  • Ensure all works comply with BS 5975:2019, PAS 8812:2016, CDM 2015, and relevant British Standards

  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and digital records to support the Golden Thread

  • Provide technical site support during installation, inspection, and removal of temporary works

  • Attend design, project, and client meetings as the temporary works lead

  • Support continuous improvement within the design function, including mentoring junior engineers

  • Contribute to performance management, knowledge sharing, and best practice development



Candidate Requirements:



  • BEng or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with ICE or IStructE

  • MSc in Temporary Works and Construction Method Engineering

  • CITB Temporary Works Coordinator certification

  • Black CSCS card (Professional level)

  • Strong working knowledge of BS 5975 and PAS 8812

  • Excellent understanding of CDM 2015 designer duties and risk management

  • Proven experience in wind loading calculations for complex building geometries

  • Proficient in structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, or Robot

  • Confident communicator able to liaise with clients, consultants, and internal teams
