Transport Manager
TRANSPORT MANAGER – ROAD FREIGHT & LOGISTICS
Location: Dover Area
Salary: £55,000 + p.a.
DOE
Hours: Monday–Friday, days
Weekend & On-Call: 1 Saturday in 3 + on-call rota
The Role
- A recruitment agency is partnering with a well-established UK freight and logistics operator to appoint an experienced Transport Manager
- This is a hands-on leadership role with real influence over fleet compliance, driver performance, and daily transport operations
- You’ll work closely with senior management while managing drivers, vehicles, and compliance across a busy road freight operation
- Ideal for a Transport Manager who enjoys responsibility, autonomy, and making things run properly
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing full transport compliance, including driver hours and tachograph infringements
- Leading, motivating, and developing HGV Class 1 drivers
- Recruiting, inducting, and training drivers to a high professional standard
- Handling driver disciplinaries when required and maintaining strong operational standards
- Coordinating closely with operations teams to maximise driver and fleet utilisation
- Overseeing vehicle availability, maintenance planning, and workshop liaison
- Investigating vehicle, trailer, or load damage and preventing repeat issues
- Supporting wider site operations when needed
What We’re Looking For
- Proven Transport Management experience within UK or European road freight
- UK and/or International CPC
- Previous experience holding a Class 1 (C+E) licence
- Strong knowledge of transport compliance and driver hours regulations
- Confident communicator with the ability to lead, influence, and challenge drivers
- Organised, detail-focused, and calm under pressure
