Management Accountant

Harper May is working with a manufacturing business that is seeking a Management Accountant to support its finance function.

Operating within a production-led environment, the organisation is focused on strengthening financial reporting, improving cost visibility, and supporting operational performance.

The Role

The Management Accountant will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting and supporting the month-end process.

Working closely with both finance and operational teams, the role will focus on providing insight into cost performance, supporting budgeting processes, and ensuring strong financial controls across the business.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with exposure to both finance and operations.

Key Responsibilities


  • Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting financial reports
  • Support the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain ledger integrity
  • Analyse costs and variances, providing insight into operational performance
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes across the business
  • Monitor inventory and production-related costs
  • Assist with cash flow monitoring and working capital management
  • Support audit preparation and year-end reporting processes
  • Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with internal policies
  • Work with operational teams to improve financial understanding and reporting

Candidate Profile


  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA part-qualified or qualified
  • Experience within manufacturing, production, or a similar operational environment
  • Strong experience in management accounts and financial reporting
  • Good understanding of cost accounting and inventory processes
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, operationally focused environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with non-finance stakeholders
