We're working with a unique, privately owned business near Henley-on-Thames, offering a varied mix of commercial activity within beautiful surroundings and a genuinely lovely, close-knit team.
This is a broad, hands-on Finance Manager role where you'll work closely with the General Manager, supporting the day-to-day running of the finance function whilst helping bring more clarity, structure and insight to the numbers.
This Finance Manager role is ideal for someone who enjoys ownership, variety and being part of the wider business.
Whilst the finance function is lean, the business itself is varied and operationally busy, with multiple revenue streams and lots of moving parts.
It's a role for someone who enjoys understanding how a business works, improving processes and making the numbers more meaningful.
The role
This is a broad, all-round Finance Manager position where you'll be involved in both the operational side of finance and improving how the business uses financial information.
Responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the day-to-day finance function across multiple income streams
- Managing month-end processes and maintaining accurate financial records
- Producing management information and supporting reporting
- Supporting cashflow visibility and helping bring clearer insight to business performance
- Managing payroll, VAT, reconciliations and core finance processes
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and streamline systems within a Xero-based environment that currently includes some manual workarounds
- Acting as a trusted support to the General Manager and wider operational team
- Supporting reporting, analysis and helping make financial information more useful for decision making
There is genuine scope in this Finance Manager role to add value, particularly around reporting, visibility and improving the way financial information supports the wider business.

This Finance Manager role would suit someone who enjoys being hands-on, likes ownership and wants to feel part of the business rather than sitting behind the numbers.
We're open minded on background and qualification level - attitude, practical experience and fit matter just as much as qualifications.
You may be:
- QBE, AAT, part-qualified or qualified
- An experienced Finance Manager or senior finance professional from an SME environment
- Comfortable managing broad day-to-day finance responsibilities and month-end reporting
- Confident using Xero and Excel
- Someone who enjoys improving processes and making things work better
- Comfortable communicating with non-finance stakeholders
- Happy to roll up their sleeves and support a small, collaborative team
The working pattern
- Ideally 4 or 5 days per week (32 to 40 hours)
- Office based - real value comes from being part of the business and wider team
- Some flexibility around working pattern for the right person over time
- Seasonal peaks, particularly around year-end and budgeting
