The Opportunity


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interaction Designer to join a specialist capability and readiness team on a long-term contract through to 2027.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of digital design and adult learning, transforming complex, content-heavy material into engaging, easy-to-digest learning experiences that support rapid workforce readiness.

Operating from Canberra with remote working possibility this is a fantastic chance to make a genuine impact on how a national organisation prepares its people for high-pressure, time-critical environments.

Key Accountabilities



  • Lead user experience design activities within the team, offering expert guidance to support the adoption of best practice approaches

  • Design and develop engaging, interactive digital learning solutions that turn dense content into clear, high-impact learning artefacts

  • Tailor learning experiences to suit a range of roles and responsibility levels, ensuring content remains clear, relevant and accessible

  • Partner closely with learning and development specialists, subject matter experts and key stakeholders to ensure accuracy and alignment with operational needs

  • Streamline content by identifying and removing redundancy, maximising learning impact within limited training windows

  • Apply contemporary learning design principles and accessibility standards, leveraging modern digital technologies to create efficient, user-centred experiences

  • Support knowledge transfer to internal teams to enable ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of learning products


Ideal Experience



  • Strong background in user experience analysis and digital content design, ideally within a learning or training environment

  • Confident working across contemporary tools and technologies such as AI-supported development, video, SCORM, HTML-based animation, JavaScript and 3D simulation

  • A strategic mindset when it comes to selecting the right content formats and technologies to meet operational needs within tight timeframes

  • Demonstrated ability to design content for single-exposure learning, where clarity and impact are essential

  • Excellent collaboration skills, with a track record of working alongside subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and relevance
