GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:



The purpose of the Manufacturing Systems Engineer is to manage and maintain SAP manufacturing and warehouse master data to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient execution of production, planning, inventory, and logistics processes across the organization.

The position is responsible for creating, updating, and governing material master records, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and master recipes while supporting SAP EWM integration and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy, system readiness, and operational effectiveness.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:




Material Master Data Management



  • Create, extend, update, and maintain material master records in SAP for raw materials, semi-finished goods, finished goods, packaging, and other relevant material types.



  • Ensure required data fields are completed accurately across applicable views, including production, warehousing, planning, and logistics-related attributes needed for downstream execution and reporting.



  • Validate material descriptions, units of measure, plant-specific data, status settings, and other relevant master data attributes for consistency and business readiness.



  • Coordinate with business stakeholders to gather source information and confirm new material setups or changes before implementation in SAP.



Bill of Materials (BOM) Creation and Maintenance



  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) to accurately define the components, quantities, and units of measure required to manufacture finished and semi-finished products.



  • Review BOM requests for completeness and verify component structure, usage, and revision accuracy prior to release.



  • Process BOM revisions and updates in alignment with engineering, operations, or formulation changes while preserving documentation and version integrity.



  • Support data accuracy for production planning and warehouse staging by ensuring components are correctly aligned to the finished good and plant requirements.



Recipe / Master Recipe Setup and Maintenance



  • Create, maintain, and revise master recipes in SAP for process manufacturing environments.



  • Maintain recipe structures including operations, phases, resource assignments, process sequence relationships, and material usage as required by the manufacturing process.



  • Coordinate with operations, technical, quality, and process owners to ensure recipes reflect approved manufacturing methods, process instructions, and production requirements.



  • Ensure BOMs and recipes are aligned appropriately for products that require both material definition and process definition in SAP production execution.



SAP EWM and Production Support



  • Support master data readiness for SAP EWM-enabled warehouse and production integration processes, including data needed for product setup, staging, and production supply.



  • Collaborate with warehouse and production teams to ensure material and product master data supports correct staging, warehouse task processing, and goods movement execution where applicable.



  • Help maintain data needed for warehouse product setup or related EWM master data dependencies where the business process requires alignment between ERP material master records and EWM product master records.



  • Assist with issue resolution for master data-related errors impacting production orders, process orders, warehouse staging, or inventory movements.



Data Governance, Quality, and Compliance



  • Follow established procedures, naming conventions, approval workflows, and internal controls for creation and maintenance of SAP master data.



  • Perform data validation checks to ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency across material master, BOM, and recipe records.



  • Maintain supporting documentation for setups, revisions, and change requests in accordance with company recordkeeping and audit requirements.



  • Participate in master data clean-up efforts, standardization initiatives, and continuous improvement activities to improve data quality and process efficiency.



Cross-Functional Coordination and Support



  • Serve as a coordination point between business users and SAP support/resources for master data requests, updates, and issue resolution.



  • Communicate effectively with manufacturing, planning, procurement, engineering, quality, and warehouse stakeholders to gather requirements and confirm changes.



  • Support training, documentation, and standard work development related to master data setup and maintenance processes.



  • Assist in preparing reports, audits, SAP usage metrics, and status updates related to master data requests and processing volumes.





EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:



  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent from an accredited four or five year college or university.



EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:



  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, preferably with batch/recipe manufacturing.

  • Knowledge of SAP, SmartSheet, and other technology systems.



OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Strong attention to detail and high level of data accuracy.

  • Understanding of manufacturing master data concepts, including Material Master, Bill of Materials (BOM), Master Recipe / Recipe Management


  • Ability to manage multiple requests, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong organizational, administrative, and documentation skills.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and follow structured approval and change control processes.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.

  • Comfortable learning new technology systems and leveraging systems for maximum efficiency.



TRAVEL REQUIRED: Occasional travel to company events may be requested.



WORK LOCATION: Onsite at our Sealants manufacturing facility in Columbus, GA.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbent must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, kneel, talk, hear, and lift up to 50 lbs.



BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION:



The salary range for applicants in this position generally ranges between $62,807 and $77,609.

This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications, operations, needs, and other considerations permitted by law.
