HGV 2 Dustcart Driver

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Dustcart Driver to join our Council Waste and Recycling team.

You will play a vital role in keeping our communities clean by safely operating refuse collection vehicles and supporting waste collection services across the borough.

• Safely operate and drive council dustcarts on designated collection routes.


• Carry out daily vehicle safety inspections and report any defects.


• Work closely with refuse loaders to complete scheduled collections efficiently.


• Ensure compliance with road traffic laws, health and safety regulations, and council policies.


• Deliver excellent customer service when interacting with residents and businesses.


• Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) driving licence.


• Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.


• Good knowledge of road safety and vehicle operation.


• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.


• Strong communication skills and a positive team-working attitude.


• Previous experience driving refuse collection vehicles is desirable but not essential.
