Production Technician

A Production Technician is sought to join an innovative technology company in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, supporting the assembly, testing, and inspection of advanced MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) products within a high-tech manufacturing environment.



The Production Technician, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, will be expected to support production activities across assembly, testing, inspection, and quality assurance processes.

Working closely with Production, Quality, and R&D teams, you will play a key role in ensuring products are manufactured to the highest standards while supporting the development of cutting-edge sensor technology.



Responsibilities include:



  • Assemble and package MEMS devices using manual, semi-automated, and automated production equipment.

  • Perform device assembly onto PCBs and load products into specialist test rigs and systems.

  • Conduct product testing, monitor equipment performance, and accurately record test results.

  • Follow detailed work instructions, SOPs, and batch documentation to ensure compliance with quality standards.

  • Maintain accurate production records and ensure full product traceability throughout manufacturing processes.

  • Monitor output, yield, and quality performance, reporting findings to the Production Supervisor.

  • Identify and escalate process deviations, equipment faults, and non-conforming products.

  • Support basic equipment maintenance, calibration checks, and troubleshooting activities.

  • Collaborate with R&D, Production, and Quality teams to support new product introduction and process improvements.

  • Assist with stock control, goods dispatch, and preparation of customer shipments.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures and company quality standards.



Key skills & experience:



  • Previous experience working within a high-tech manufacturing, electronics, semiconductor, or engineering environment.

  • Hands-on experience using test equipment including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, regulated power supplies, and signal generators.

  • Practical soldering experience and understanding of electronic principles.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.

  • Experience working with microscopes, precision tools, and small components.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures accurately.

  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • HNC, BTEC Level 4, or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering would be advantageous.

  • IPC 610 or IPC 7711/7721 certification would be beneficial.

  • Experience within semiconductor, MEMS, or cleanroom environments would be advantageous.

  • PCB assembly, rework, or repair experience would be desirable.
