Senior Mental Health Social Worker

We are looking for a Senior Social Worker to join an NHS-integrated Community Mental Health Team in North London.


This role requires a Social Work Qualification with a minimum of 3 years post qualified experience, ideally at senior level.


About the team



  • Provide senior practice leadership within an integrated community mental health team, working alongside NHS colleagues under Section 75 partnership arrangements.

  • Supervise and support social workers and unqualified staff, providing regular case supervision, professional oversight and practice development to maintain high standards across the team.

  • Undertake the Duty Senior role, prioritising competing demands, supporting complex decision-making and managing risk under pressure.

  • Act as Safeguarding Adults Manager (SAM), overseeing Section 42 enquiries and ensuring safeguarding decisions are proportionate, person-centred and in line with statutory duties.

  • Hold and oversee complex cases, completing Care Act 2014 assessments and reviews, mental capacity assessments under the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Section 117 aftercare planning.

  • A role suited to a confident senior social worker with strong knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act, and the ability to model excellent practice within a multidisciplinary, health-integrated setting.


About you


A degree within Social Work (Degree/DipSW/CQSW) with a minimum of three years experience is essential in order to be considered for this role.

Experience within a community mental health or NHS-integrated setting, and of supervising staff, is desirable.
