JOB DESCRIPTION



The Euclid Chemical Company is currently looking for a Petrographer to work onsite at our campus in Cleveland, OH.

This position is responsible for all technological matters associated with the Petrographic Laboratory.

This includes but is not limited to customer and sales support as well as product development, requiring petrographic examinations and reports of investigation

Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 annually



Major Responsibilities:

• Responsible for petrographic examinations to support customer and sales activities,
producing reports of examinations and findings as required.
• Supports quality control and production with analysis and physical examinations as well
as validation of QC test methods producing reports of examinations and findings, as required.
• Supports marketing department investigative and product development activities
• Participates in examination and characterization of new and current raw materials.
• Provides investigative support in claim activities.
• Supports product development activities.
• Facilitate Petrographic Laboratory output and coordination of activities in conjunction
with other Euclid Laboratories.
• Writing or participating in complete reports of examination including coordinating information for comprehensive reports using data from other Euclid Laboratories.



Education and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology and/or related experience or training in optical microscopy and mineralogy
• Experience in optical microscopy, especially with the use and interpretation of results
from staining and other practical techniques used with the petrographic microscope and stereoscopic microscope as applied to concrete petrography, thin section preparation and examination and interpretation, clinker microscopy and cement microscopy.
• Experience in photomicrography required for sample log-in and inclusion as required in reports of examination.
• Prior experience in use and interpretation of X-Ray Powder Diffractometry for inclusion in reports of examination of concrete, concrete materials, and cements.
• Experience with Technical Service, Quality Control and Product Development problems in concrete and construction products.
