Strategic Development Manager
A position for a Strategic Development Manager role has become available, with a leading provider of integrated security technology solutions across the UK and Ireland.
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established organisation operating within the security technology sector, delivering innovative electronic security solutions for high-security environments, public spaces, transport networks, and critical infrastructure projects throughout the UK and Ireland.
The Strategic Development Manager job is a field-based role with remote and hybrid working supported and will play a key role in identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic customer relationships, and driving sales growth across both existing and emerging market sectors.
The successful candidate will work closely with the wider Sales & Business Development team, technical stakeholders, delivery functions, technology partners, and senior leadership to develop opportunities and convert customer requirements into project and service revenues.
This role offers an excellent blend of business development, customer engagement, commercial strategy, and solution selling, making it ideal for candidates looking to develop their career within a highly technical and customer-focused environment.
Ideal candidates for the Strategic Development Manager job will have experience in the following areas:
- Identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities across existing and emerging market sectors.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with prospective clients, key decision-makers, and industry stakeholders.
- Developing business development strategies to maximise sales opportunities and market penetration.
- Building, managing, and maintaining a healthy sales funnel and pipeline to achieve revenue growth targets.
- Working collaboratively with technical, operational, and commercial teams to develop winning solutions and proposals.
- Understanding customer challenges and positioning suitable security technology solutions to meet their requirements.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with technology partners, manufacturers, and strategic stakeholders.
- Conducting customer presentations, seminars, CPD sessions, and solution demonstrations.
- Monitoring competitor activity, market trends, and customer requirements to identify new opportunities.
- Managing major opportunities throughout the sales lifecycle and reporting on progress, win strategies, and commercial performance.
- Achieving quarterly and annual sales targets through proactive business development activities.
- Building strong working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery and long-term customer satisfaction.
The successful candidate will ideally possess:
- A proven track record within Business Development, New Business Sales, Account Management, Technical Sales, or Solution Sales roles.
- Demonstrable experience within the electronic security, security technology, integrated systems, or related technology sectors.
- Significant experience securing new business opportunities on a national scale within a solution-based sales environment.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify, qualify, and develop strategic opportunities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to engage and influence decision-makers at all levels within customer organisations.
- Strong networking, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
- A good understanding of the UK electronic security market and competitive landscape.
- The ability to communicate both technical and non-technical concepts clearly and effectively.
- A proactive, self-motivated, and results-driven approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK to meet customers and develop opportunities.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple business opportunities simultaneously.
